Porto is a coastal town in northwest Portugal known for its imposing bridges and port wine production. In Ribeira's medieval district, on the banks of the river, narrow cobbled streets pass through the merchants' houses and restaurants. St. Francis Church is known for its lush Baroque interior with ornate golden carvings. The lavish 19th-century Stock Exchange Palace was a stock market and was built to impress potential European investors.
Aveiro is a city on the Portuguese west coast founded by a lagoon known as Ria de Aveiro. It is distinguished by its channels navigated by colorful boats (moliceiro boats), traditionally used for harvesting algae. Not far from the center, known for its art nouveau buildings, is the Sé de Aveiro, with its prominent belfry. The Aveiro Museum, housed in a former convent, has an extravagant marble-built tomb.

The tour was well-organized. Our guide, the knowledgeable Arthur, ensured the entire trip was relaxing and comfortable, allowing us to fully enjoy the beautiful scenery without feeling rushed. One of the highlights was a casual boat ride along the Douro River in Porto. The views were stunning, and it was the perfect way to soak in the city’s charm. We enjoyed a fantastic port tasting session at Calem. To top it all off, we dined at a local restaurant for lunch at Arthur’s recommendation, which was a delightful experience with authentic cuisine. Overall, highly recommended.

Our very knowledgeable and personable guide, Arthur truly brought this stunning region of Portugal to life for my friend and I. From the moment of our hotel pickup to our drop off he provided a wealth of information and was extremely responsive to our personal interests and needs! Every aspect of our tour was expertly arranged by him to provide us with a most memorable experience! He arranged a water view table for our delicious lunch and made sure we boarded the best gondola for our breathtaking ride on the canals of Aviero!! Our family did the private full day tour from Lisbon to Porto & Aveiro. I cannot say enough good things…we had Hugo as our driver/guide and he was absolutely wonderful!! He was so very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we were always comfortable.
