Excursion to Playa de las Catedrals, Ribadeo and Tapia de Casariego

Description
Cliffs shaped by the sea, fishing villages full of history and skylines that nestle in memory. Don't miss it! Heading to the Galician coast, we set off for one of the most impressive corners of northern Spain: Playa de las Catedrals, with its magnificent arches that are exposed when the tide goes out. At Buendía we adapt the itinerary according to the tide tables to always offer you the best possible experience, although, exceptionally, the actual sea state may differ from the forecast. The route will take us to Isla Pancha, a postcard island from which you will enjoy a unique panorama. Ribadeo will surprise us with its rich history and architecture during the guided tour. You will have free time to discover it at your own pace and taste some of the most representative dishes of local cuisine. In Tapia de Casariego it runs through its port and alleys before reaching the Lighthouse of San Agustín, with one of the most stunning views of the Galician coast.

Very well organized trip. Excellent guide, Ana, and driver. Comfortable business. Interesting sites, good schedule
Not very exciting. A very long day. You really don't need to see two lighthouses on the same trip. Four hours with no restroom break. The Playa de las Catedrals was very crowded. The guide saw it was extremely busy and gave us an extra 25 minutes, but we had to wait 45 minutes just to cross over the rock, at that point we had 15 minutes left to return to the bus! We rushed to look and take a few pictures and rush back to cross the rock but we were not allowed for 20 minutes, extremely unorganized, our guide said that the week before it was not crowded. Also the English version is not equal, the Spanish version has long details while English is minimal, At the first stop the guide completely forgot that he had English speakers. After he finished his Spanish spiel he obviously wasn't going to do the English. I said it loud enough for him to hear "I guess we don't get the English version" He immediate realized, apologized and then talked to us. Our 2nd and last tours with Buendia tour company.
I completed a fabulous tour in one day without exhaustion. I was very excited with the explanations that Daniel, our guide, provided during the tour and at the highlighted sites. I was able to enjoy the beach of the Cathedrals and see its rock arches, which is something impressive. A very organized trip. Punctual. I liked the opportunities to be at the planned sites calmly, visiting fishing villages and learning about their history, their streets, and squares from times past. A day to remember
Old bus, no bathroom, did not see main attraction due to tide which should have been known. Low End tour. Guide was Nice and informative. The three rating was generous.
Hi Matthew, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear we didn’t meet your expectations this time. We hope to welcome you again soon for a great adventure. Kindly, Buendía Tours España
I made the excursion to Playa de las Catedrals and overall it was a good experience. The place is spectacular and totally worth the visit. The guide was friendly and the organization was fine overall. However, I would like to point out that during the stop in Tapia de Casariego and in the last villages of the tour, the heat at those hours was quite intense, which made the walks somewhat heavy. In those stretches, the walking time in the sun was excessive and planning could be improved to avoid the hottest hours or reduce exposure time. Even so, it is a recommended excursion if prepared with sun protection, water and comfortable footwear. The Playa de las Catedrals is undoubtedly the highlight of the tour.
We booked a tour in English only to find out on the bus it was a Spanish only tour. We complained to the tour operator and the guide finally did a limited job of explaining what was happening. We were not happy with Ribadeo. It was hard to get a table for lunch and all the other shops were closed until after we left. We were there nearly 2 hours. Why? Not much to see or do. Tapia de Casariego was a lovely little town but we were only there 45 mins. The final disappointment was being dropped somewhere different in town - not the final place as stated on the description. We vs are non Spanish speaking and had no idea where we were.
The entire trip was very well organized from start to finish. Even though it’s a full day, time goes by quickly. For the Playa de Catedrales: consider bringing a bathing suit or wearing shorts/ a skirt so you can walk in the water. Bring a towel to dry off. The tour guide Santiago did an excellent job of keeping everyone together, informing us of meeting times, and scheduling each stop.
Thank you so much for your kind review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the experience and that the organization of the trip met your expectations. We also appreciate the tips you shared for future travelers — they’ll surely find them helpful! We're proud to know that Santiago helped make your day even more special. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to him — he’ll be very happy to hear them. We hope to see you again soon on another one of our adventures! Buendía Tours España
