Itinerary
Your Day Trip begins with a private pick-up at your hotel in Rome in a climate-controlled luxury car, so you can relax in comfort and enjoy the stunning countryside. Enjoy the hillside views as you drive up to Orvieto.
Once in Orvieto, have a walk through this quaint medieval town and observe the fantastic architecture and art which has attracted curious travelers from all around. Admire the stunning buildings, nestled peacefully amongst the local bustle of the tight-knit community. Enter Orvieto’s elaborate Duomo, Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta and admire carefully executed frescoes from the 15th century. Learn about Michelangelo’s visit to Orvieto and the inspiration he drew from observing this stunning church. After you have appreciated Orvieto from the top, it’s time to head underground. The Etruscan city holds 3,000 years of history and mysteries deep below the modern day city. Orvieto is a city full of beauty, history and mystery with a stunning overground built upon caves and intricate tunnel systems, dug by ancient Etruscan people over three millennium ago.
Your trip to Umbria would not be complete without sampling the local cuisine. Umbria is one of those places that even Italians visit for a delicious local lunch outside of Rome. It won’t take long for you to realize why this region is known by everyone from Michelin-starred chefs to local foodies. We truly believe in the quality of Umbrian food which is why we include a sit down lunch with local products and wine on your Orvieto Day Trip Private Tour. Allow us to work with you and your guests to provide a menu that is both suitable and delicious with choices such as truffle bruschetta, local cheeses and salumi, fresh egg pasta. And of course no Umbrian table is complete without the local wine – Orvieto Classico!
Once your bellies are full, you will hop back into your private car and head out to one of the quaintest places in perhaps all of Italy – Civita di Bagnoregio, a town with a population of only 12! This stunning and unique hilltop gem is better known as “il paese che muore” - the dying town - because of the uniquely small number of residents. Civita di Bagnoregio is sure to impress even the most seasoned traveler. Take incredible pictures and marvel at the longevity of this precious and rare town. Your Private Orvieto Day Trip Experience finishes in Rome, at your hotel, where you will arrive with plenty of time to enjoy a Roman evening.

An excellent guide with a good sense of humor. We saw Tivoli and Hadrian’s villa and Andy walked us through the history of each.
Today my husband & I enjoyed a delightful excursion thru from Rome with LIV Tours to visit Hadrian’s Villas — d’Este and Adriana. Our guide Brando brought to life the ancient history and treasures of both Villas. Brando is a gentleman & a historian and made this day a wonderful adventure
We had a great day with Brando to Orvieto and Civita. Amazing day trip from Rome. Orvieto was lovely and Brando arranged for a perfect day with lunch.
Highly recommend, Brando provided great insight into everything and went above and beyond answering all questions about Italy in general! Great tour
Brando was wonderful! Very passionate and intentional about his work! He has great knowledge about Rome and Italian food. Really a pleasant guide - very much recommend touring with Brando!
It was worth it just for the history. Amazing! Would not go back to Rome been there done that kinda of thing. I would recommend to everyone to go there and see everything you can.
What a lovely escape from bustling Rome! Being with Alexandra was like spending the day with a trusted, thoughtful, smart and lovely friend. Gorgeous countryside, olive groves, vineyards, villas and hill towns. All of our tours with Liv during our week in Rome were excellent and we’ll use them next time as well.
Brando went above and beyond to ensure our family had the best time during our tour of the Bomarzo Monster Garden and Orvietto. He was on time, friendly and had such a wealth of knowledge at each location. He really helped put our anxieties at ease and made us feel at home in each location. In addition to being our tour guide, he was a great photographer, acquiescing to our frequent photo requests and questions. He was very patient with my parents, who moved slowly and needed assistance from time to time. Our driver was also excellent. He mostly operated quietly in the background, but was also very friendly and made us feel safe when driving (not something I can say of every driver we had in Rome). The car was spacious, clean and came with light refreshments (water, candy, etc). At the end of our tour, Brando also helped us navigate the intimidating Termini train station in Rome, which was a complete godsend! I don’t believe we would have made our train to Florence if it wasn’t for his generous help. He truly went above and beyond to make our visit smooth, even after the tour ended. I would recommend this tour (and Brando, specifically) to anyone looking to book an excursion in our around Rome. It was the highlight of our Rome visit!
Dear Michael, We are so happy to hear that Brando made your trip to Bomarzo and Orvietto memorable. His knowledge and friendliness are truly appreciated. Your kind words are inspiring. We aim to make every client's journey unique and unforgettable. Thank you!
Brando is amazing! He is real kind with full of ancient Greek and Roman knowledge. What a wonderful tour with splendid food and beverage. Strongly recommended.
From: Christina Riley <[phone]> Our group of 10 (La bande dei Dieci 😊) had a marvelous time in Rome, but we wanted a day trip to give us a taste of the Umbrian countryside. We opted for Liv Tours full day trip to Orvieto & Civita di Bagnoregio. Wow- what a great decision! Getting out of the city was a special treat and while it was brief, the entire day was magical, from the underground caves in Orvieto to the agriturismo lunch to the walk up to Bagnoregio. Superb!! Special thanks to Liv Tours for their attention to detail & hiring excellent staff to ensure guests made incredible memories to last a lifetime! Grazie mille, Christina
