This was a wonderful experience. I’ve been on a lot of walking tours, but this is the first one that I took my son and daughter on as well. We all loved hearing the stories and history that Bobby Pinn shared as we walked the streets that some of our favorite musicians had walked before. If we had more time in NY we would have signed up to do one of his other tours as well.
1-2-3-4! Get yourself a couple of hours of time travel back to the heyday of 1970's NYC rock'n'roll. Bobby is a brilliant guide with a passion for rock music that comes across like a Jimmy Page guitar solo. I could have listened to his stories for hours. I even forgot how cold it was. Gabba Gabba Hey!
Very informative tour of the rock and punk scene in New York. I learned a lot and got to see some historical sites. I absolutely recommend this tour and I can’t wait to come back and check out their other tours. The tour guide also gave us little pamphlets with great recommendations of food, record shops, bars, etc.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a lot of pictures and other items (album covers) which really enhanced the tour. He noted great photo ops and several locals greeted him on the tour. I have a very small gripe. I am a 61 year old from NJ. I have been to CBGBs, I have shopped at Trash & Vaudeville in the 1980s, I shopped for albums at the famous record stores. It would have been nice if the guide also had these experiences during the area's heyday of the late 70s/early 80s.
Lot's of interesting bits not otherwise known. Lots of great information and some a bit mind-blowing. Bobby's tour was top notch and is a great and knowledgeable guy.
This was an outstanding tour, full of stories I’d never heard before and the places they happened. Totally recommend this, great value, and if you’re into late 60s, 70s and early 80s music it’s essential.
Billy's tour played like a great side of vynil. It started off with low key lore, then blew up to the big time, went through the hits, and then, to me, the best came with a performer profile that was completely unexpected. He finished it off with more, more, more. There is a lot a vague there because no spoilers? For sure though if you've heard of it in the area's history, you will see it on the tour. Be ready for his trivia questions. Billy passed out flyers for us tourers to further enjoy the area. He had his NYC RnR Landmarks book on offer as well, further proof he knows the knowlege. That tatoo pic within looks familiar.
An outstanding trip led by the informative and engaging Bobby Pin who brought all the sights we visited to life like we were living in the moment. Filthy McNasty
We really liked this 2 hour walking tour of East Village / Alphabet city with wide range of locations that touch the areas music history. The host really did a good job of storytelling with photos to support (and even participate in!). If there's anything I found lacking personally, was I would have liked to hear more about Lou Reed/The Velvet Underground and Sonic Youth - I might have missed my opportunity at the start to mention that!
Very knowledgeable guide. He lived it. Showed us some cool spots and gave great recommendations. Would recommend.
