Visit the Step Pyramid (Built for king Zoser), it is considered an important part of the process of the pyramid evolution, which were made from the simple mastaba to its widely known form.
The Serapeum of Saqqara was the ancient Egyptian burial place for sacred bulls of the Apis cult at Memphis. It was believed that the bulls were incarnations of the god Ptah, which would become immortal after death as Osiris-Apis. a name which evolved to Serapis (Σέραπις) in the Hellenistic period, and Userhapi (ⲟⲩⲥⲉⲣϩⲁⲡⲓ) in Coptic. It is part of the Saqqara necropolis, which includes several other animal catacombs, notably the burial vaults of the mother cows of the Apis.

This is truly a hidden gem here in Egypt! I'm so glad, and thankful that my wonderful host Somaya suggested this place. I'm really big on the actual history, and learning about Egyptian civilizations. If you are too, this is where it all began! Somaya was so knowledgeable, and kind. I found myself traveling back in time touching the sacred soil of Kings past. Book this one for sure, you won't regret it. Make sure you ask for Somaya too, she's the best!
