Excellent tour. Justin was super knowledgeable and nice, I also got to play him my own music and he was very supportive. Highly recommend, but if you’re not educated on Bowie I’d recommend doing some research first, because it’s a lot of information
Thank you for the wonderful review. We're so pleased you enjoyed your tour. Hope to see you on another Insight Cities tour in Prague, Berlin, Budapest, Vienna, or Salzburg. Safe travels!
The tour was very informative. Our friendly guide Dan took very good care of us, answered questions, told us many previously unknown facts. It was nice that David Bowie’s motivation for moving to Berlin was addressed, and artists who influenced him were also included. The focus of the tour, of course, was on David Bowie’s Berlin time, not on his entire life and work. The interesting pictures and sound recordings (e.g. Angie) as well as the music samples rounded it off and made it an extremely entertaining experience. By the way, English was very easy to understand, even for us native German speakers. Thanks for that.
Thank you for the wonderful review. We're so pleased you enjoyed it. Hoping to see you on another Insight Cities tour in Prague, Berlin, Budapest, Vienna, or Salzburg. Safe travels!
A fun and enjoyable tour, perfect for the David Bowie and Iggy Pop fans out there. Our guide Klaus (sp?) was really good and well informed about Bowie and brought great perspective on that whole era of Berlin's history on our walk and around the city. It was cool to see the studio where Bowie and Pop recorded some of their greatest music and also the apartment building where they lived. Highly recommend this tour.

One of the highlights of our recent trip to Berlin was experiencing the David Bowie private walking tour. I consider myself a semi-heavy fan, but it doesn't matter if you know one or two songs or are a hardcore uber fan. The tour appeals to everyone. The glimpse into David Bowie's life in Berlin is educational with an emphasis on the city, its art, history, and culture. Bowie's music is played throughout the tour while you are walking, which is fantastic. What I enjoyed the most was seeing the building that housed his recording studio. I also loved seeing his apartment. Our tour guide, Dan, knew everything about Bowie including David's inner circle personal and business relationships so I was able to develop a much fuller appreciation of the man and the musician/artist. Additionally, there are a lot of references provided to you of films to watch, artists to follow, etc. Tip: Bring water. There are two restroom breaks and at least one snack break.
Thank you for taking the time to review. We're proud to work with such terrific guides. Hope to see you again on Insight Cities tours in Berlin, Prague, Vienna, and Salzburg. Please tell your friends!
We had an amazing David Bowie tour with Martin today. Martin is a fantastic guide, knowledgable, not only about David Bowie but also about history, art and whatever we wanted to know (including tips for a great restaurant after the tour). My 15yo daugther, who is a David Bowie fan, as well as my 10yo daugther were equally happy - and thats not easy to make both happy :-) I really enjoyed the tour - I can highly recommend the guide Martin and Insight Cities Berlin!
Thank you so much for the great feedback. We'll definitely pass that on to your guide. Safe travels!
Fantastic experience, very knowledgeable guide, found out a lot about Bowie and other aspects of Berlin that I hadn't known before. Walking through Berlin listening to Bowie and much more - surreal. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much for your review. We hope to see you on another Insight Cities tour in the future in Prague, Berlin, Budapest, Vienna, or Salzburg.
Ronen was our tour guide and each sentence he spoke was a like a brilliant essay on Berlin, crafted beautiful with a message that hit me as true, surprising and powerful (even more powerful because it was surprising). We started with understand why Bowie chose Berlin, a city divided, a city of two characters. Ronen used the couple of year David Bowie spent in Berlin as a micocosm for the whole Berlin ecosystem - it really was a journey through the city. It’s simply the best city tour I have been on
Thank you so much for this heartfelt review. It's a massive compliment to hear this has been the best tour for you. We're so glad you enjoyed Ronen's Bowie knowledge and delivery thereof! Hope to see you on our other tours soon. Elizabet at Insight Cities
A fantastic tour! Ronen was bubbling over with interesting facts and entertaining anecdotes, which were fascinating also for providing a picture of the divided city of the time. A throroughly enjoyable experience - not only for Bowie fans!
Thank you so much for the review! Glad you enjoyed your Bowie tour with Ronen -- it's such rich material, there is always somthing for everyone. Safe travels! Elizabet
We had an excellent tour with Dan. The tour of course covered Bowie in Berlin but we also got an impression of the contrast between Berlin in the 70s and 80s and now. Thoroughly enjoyable and Dan is a very knowledgable guide
Thank you for the review! We're so happy you liked it!! Elizabet, Insight Cities
Dan Borden from Insight Cities (out of Seattle, WA) gave us a spectacular time-capsule of a whirlwind tour that culminated in the diverse neighborhood that became home to the starman from Brixton. The tour ended at the apartment that David Bowie made home of as a Berliner in 1977. Dan took us through the life that Bowie chose in this divided city (circa GDR) leaving the safe confines of the Hollywood Hills to live amongst the immigrant rich populations of inner city Berlin. David Bowie often rode his bike in 1977 to Hansa Studios while working on Low and hit-inspired tunes like “Heroes”. As a young father at 30 years of age, he was mesmerized by the city. Dan went into detail highlighting the many colorful visits that Bowie made in Berlin hobnobbing with Tilda Swinton and working with the likes of Iggy Pop (his friend and roommate at the time), Brian Eno and Tony Visconti…, etc. Dan Borden showcased a fascinating and exuberant time when creativity had no bounds set against the backdrop of a very creatively vibrant city. Highly recommended tour even if you were not such a huge Bowie fan! You soon will be.
Thank you Han for the wonderful and informative review! There are so many traces of Bowie in Berlin -- and Dan's the person to ask. Hope to see you on any of our other tours in Central Europe. Elizabet, Insight Cities
