Itinerary
Meet your guide at the foot of a 4th-century triumphal arch, built to commemorate Emperor Constantine’s victory over his rival Maxentius. One of ancient Rome’s best-preserved monuments, it sits just steps from the Colosseum and offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s imperial past.
Save hours of planning as you explore the Colosseum with your expert guide, who will transport you back to the heyday of the Roman Empire. Expect fascinating facts and engaging stories that bring the past to life. Learn about the Colosseum’s gladiator fights, beast hunts, and executions, and imagine the scenes as you gaze down at the arena floor. Discover how the Colosseum was built and how advanced engineering and technology made the games possible. Over the course of an hour, you’ll explore the first and second levels of the Colosseum, with plenty of stops at the best photo spots.
Walk along the ancient cobbled stones of the Via Sacra (Sacred Way), the route that triumphant generals and legionaries once took through the Roman Forum to celebrate Rome’s victories over its enemies.
Your next stop is the site where Rome was founded. According to legend, it was on this hill that Romulus killed his twin brother Remus before establishing the Eternal City in 753 BC. The Palatine Hill also gave us the word “palace,” as it was home to Rome’s rich and powerful. Explore the remains of the luxurious imperial palaces as you wander through what was the ‘Beverly Hills’ of the ancient world. The sprawling ruins, towering pine trees, and spectacular views of Circus Maximus and the Roman Forum make this a truly unforgettable experience.
The final stop on your tour brings you into the heart of the Ancient City. Explore what life was like for everyday Romans as you wander through the social, religious, and political center of Rome’s empire. Marvel at the remains of 2,000-year-old temples, triumphal arches, sprawling basilicas, and more as you walk the same stones once trodden by Julius Caesar, Cicero, and Augustus.

The Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill tour was very thorough and interesting. Our tour guide Francesca did a great job explaining the history and leading our group through all of the different areas. It is a longer tour, 3 hours but well worth it.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled you found the tour thorough and interesting, and that Francesca made the experience so engaging. We truly appreciate your kind words and are glad it was well worth your time! 😊
The sound on the ear bud was intermittent it didn't seem like the system had a long range. Our guide would walk too far ahead ..it was so busy so we had to navigate around other visitors and we would lose the ear sound contact with her. We really only got half the information...we did tell her a number of times that we could not hear her she would adjust her mic but then walk far ahead of us. Others on the tour also complained but nothing changed.
Hi Kari, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the rescheduling and the hot weather on the day negatively affected your overall experience. We understand how disappointing it can be when a time change impacts your plans, especially when visiting major sites like the Colosseum and Roman Forum. We also regret that the pacing and level of historical detail did not fully meet your expectations. While our guides aim to share engaging and accurate context throughout the tour, we’re sorry that in your case it felt less dynamic than you had hoped, particularly regarding the deeper historical connections you were interested in. We appreciate your comments about both content depth and time management within the sites, and we will share your feedback with our operations team for review and improvement. Thank you again for your honest review, and we’re sorry the experience felt underwhelming for you overall.

Pilar was amazing, as a historian she gave life and colour in to the tour. We learned so much, with all her insights. Would definitely recommend.

Andrea was a really great guide. He explained things very well, with a sense of humor, and was very pleasant to talk to. He was also very considerate since we had someone in our party who was pregnant and offered several areas to rest, drink, water, use the restroom, and avoid going through metal detectors. The tour was super interesting, would highly recommend!
Thanks Gabriella! Glad you had a great time with Andrea — it’s wonderful to hear he was informative, humorous, and considerate for your group. 🏛️✨ Highly recommend indeed!
This was a great tour for those who don’t prefer big crowds of people around you. It was very intimate and I feel we gained more knowledge than other groups. The host was amazing and I would 10/10 recommend this to anyone!
Thank you, Carol! We're so glad you enjoyed the intimate tour experience—your kind words mean a lot. A 10/10 from you is the best reward! 🏛️😊✨
Be courteous to your guide and tour mates by arriving on time. Expect to walk, wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Bring water! We were fortunate to have Daniele (Daniel). He was very smart, witty and knowledgeable! He was very inclusive and interactive with the guests. We walked and toured at a very comfortable pace. He ensured comfort, encouraged photo opportunities and restroom breaks! We laughed, we saw, we conquered! He explained the many levels of antiquity and modernity by illustrating original structures with modifications. Worth the price, worth the walk, and would do it again! I hope you’re lucky enough to experience Daniele and his great attitude!
Thank you, Fernando! We're so glad you had such a memorable experience with Daniele. It's wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the tour and the pace, along with the historical insights. We hope you get to return soon!
I have to start this review with a huge thank you to our tour guide Paolo for being such an incredible human being. My husband and I were at the tail end of our 20 day honeymoon in Europe and very drained. By the end of the tour our hearts were filled with so much happiness and gratitude. Paolo made sure that every single person in our group was enjoying themselves and had us engaged the whole time. He is such an intelligent and kind human being I will never forget this day. Paolo even stopped at a gift store during our tour, no one knew why, and at the end he gave me and my husband a painting of the Colosseum and wished us luck with our new marriage. Not only this, but everything he taught us was extremely inspiring! There is so emotion felt visiting these places. This was by far my favorite tour of our trip and I can’t recommend it enough.
What a beautiful memory, Jadalyn! It’s amazing how Paolo made your honeymoon even more special with his thoughtful gesture and engaging tour. Wishing you both endless happiness and more unforgettable adventures ahead! 🌟💍
Tour was informative. Lots of walking in the heat but we tried Moving fast without loosing the importance details of everything.
Thank you, Khristina! I'm glad you found the Small Group Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum Tour informative despite the heat. Your feedback is appreciated!
