Description

Our 2-hour city tour by coach will start at the cruise terminal (Pirbadet). We will head to Solsiden, a charming and vibrant district and we will see the colorful warehouses along the river Nid. Our tour will continue through the city center while passing the Hotel Britannia and the royal residence Stiftsgården. Leaving the city center, we will proceed uphill to the Sverresli viewpoint to enjoy Trondheim from above and witness the city’s charming skyline. We will make another stop at Kristiansten Fortress. After the devastating fire in 1681, the fortress was built in order to defend Trondheim. We continue on to our final stop, Nidaros Cathedral (Nidarosdomen). The cathedral was built in the 11th century. Additional work and renovations have continued since then. It is one of Scandinavia’s most stunning and grandiose cathedrals as well as the best well-preserved Gothic building in Northern Europe. Trondheim and Norway as a whole are very proud of this magnificent building.

Bus tour if you only have 2 hrs

A good overview of the Trondheim. Would like at least 30 minutes at each stop (points of interest). 15 - 20 minutes stop only allowed time mainly to take pictures.

Not So Great Excursion.

The tour was okay . The biggest problem was the tour guide. He seemed like he was always trying to figure out where he was. He missed telling us about the bridge or Palace when we passed it. He was never sure where he wanted to bring the group to talk. The places we stopped at were great. I just think the confusion of him made the trip a little crazy. We left at the last stop and walked back to the ship and I really enjoyed that. I would tell someone about this excursion and hope they didn’t get him as a guide.

Not for you if you are english speaking!

We booked this trip as English speaking travelers and this tour was sold to us as “English speaking only”. We meet with guides and they were very nice and welcoming. Upon boarding it became clear that only 4 of us spoke English and the rest of the full bus were German speaking. During the bus tour out guide was very interactive but sadly it was 90% in German and when she would finally get tell is about what we were seeing, we were either way passed the building or we would get 10words in English. Most of the times the guilds were reading off their notes which made the experience even more gloomy. The walking part was more inclusive as the second guide tried to make us feel like we are a part of the tour. Overall we don’t recommend this tour unless you like to like to pay to feel excluded, lost ans frustrated.

I could not consistently...

I could not consistently hear commentary by the guide even though she used a microphone. It diminished the tour's effectiveness.

Tour of Trondheim

Excellent tour of the city with knowledgeable guide. However miss out the first Fort for the view and have more time at the second fort and the Cathedral.

Bad experience

My wife and I recently took part in a tour in Trondheim, Norway, booked through Viator for June 19, 2025, booking number XXXXXXX. Unfortunately, the experience did not align with the advertised description, and we are incredibly disappointed with the level of service provided. Key issues: We were not informed of the tour operator’s name, making it challenging to locate the departure point. The operator was initially unaware of Viator and had no signage or clarity regarding our booking. When we finally got on the bus, it had a terrible urine smell. The tour was advertised as a bus tour with minimal walking, yet it included a 1.5-hour walking tour, which we were unable to participate in due to age and mobility constraints. It turns out that the listed 30-minute stop at Nidaros Cathedral was conditional upon joining the walking tour, forcing us to hire a taxi ($30) to return to our ship. The itinerary mentioned a drive-by of the Old Town Bridge, which was not included at all. These discrepancies made for a stressful and unsatisfactory experience. We did not receive the service we paid for, and incurred additional out-of-pocket costs due to the misleading nature of the tour description. We are requesting a full or partial refund, including reimbursement for the taxi cost.

Not bad could have been better.

Could have been better, the pick up point wasn’t crystal clear and the route from the cruise ship wasn’t obvious. Plus our guide wasn’t a local, he was a student and wasn’t sure about a few things, although his knowledge of the cathedral was good.

Do not use unless you can purchase.ticket last second at stop

Ugh dont use them, two buses running for a cruise ship of riders coming in, they have no idea what they are doing, easy ninety minute wait for a bus on a total 6 hour tour stop... Total 2 buses running, unbelievable.

Moderate display.

Bus tour would start at 10:00 am. Request attendance at 0945. Bus arrived at 10.20! Guided tour would take 2 hours. After an hour and a half the Guide got off with a number of passengers to continue walking. Left the rest of the party with the driver alone to drive back to the starting point. Stunning!
