Itinerary
The day starts with pickup in Cancun, either from your accommodation or from the meeting point confirmed for your reservation. After travelers are welcomed by the team and everyone is on board, the journey begins toward Yucatan and the Chichen Itza area. This first part of the route is the transition from the Caribbean side of the region into a day focused on Maya heritage, local flavors, cenote waters, and colonial scenery. Travelers can use this time to get comfortable before reaching the main cultural stops of the experience.
Before entering Chichen Itza, the route includes a brief stop near nearby points of interest. During this part of the experience, travelers will also have buffet lunch at a local restaurant close to the archaeological area, with regional dishes and traditional Mexican flavors available. After lunch, the group will continue with the guides toward the entrance of Chichen Itza. Inside the site, travelers will enjoy an approximately 1 hour guided visit through one of the most important ancient Maya cities, learning about its temples, architecture, cultural relevance, and the way this civilization lived. Once the guided tour is finished, travelers will have about 1 hour of free time to explore the site at their own pace, take photos, walk through the area, and enjoy the atmosphere of this world famous archaeological landmark.
After the archaeological experience, the tour continues toward Cenote Saamal (It will take approximately 1 hour to get there), a beautiful freshwater cenote surrounded by the natural landscapes of Yucatán. This part of the day adds a refreshing change of rhythm after exploring stone temples, open plazas, and ancient history. Cenotes held special meaning in ancient Maya culture, often connected with sacred beliefs and the natural world beneath the surface. At Cenote Saamal, travelers will have time to enjoy the clear waters, swim, cool off, and take in one of the most unique natural settings of the peninsula. At the end, we will head to the beautiful historic city of Valladolid; the return trip will take approximately 1 hour.
The final stop takes travelers to Valladolid, a charming colonial city known for its colorful streets, peaceful atmosphere, traditional architecture, and rich Yucatecan identity. This visit brings a local and cultural closing touch to the day after the ruins and cenote. Travelers will have approximately 30 to 45 minutes of free time to walk around the area, take photos, admire the colonial surroundings, and enjoy the authentic character of this historic town before beginning the return journey.
After the visit to Valladolid, travelers will board the transportation again for the return toward Cancun and the Riviera Maya. This final part of the experience closes the day with time to rest after a full route through Maya history, regional cuisine, refreshing cenote waters, and colonial charm. The return trip to Cancun and Riviera Maya hotels are approximately 2 hours.

This rule helps protect everyone’s items during the tour.

These durations should not be understood as the exact amount of time spent only inside each attraction. Please review the itinerary for the approximate timing details of the experience.
- Our team works hard to keep the tour as close as possible to the planned schedule, but timing also depends on travelers being ready at the assigned pickup time and returning punctually at every stop. Even a very small delay can accumulate throughout the day and affect the overall schedule.

Jorge & Carlos took great care of us. Ch Chen Itza is a must see! The Mayan buffet was delicious. Long day & worth the experience
The guide did 98% of the talking in Spanish then say 2-3 words of English. Very friendly but didnt know the details of timing or what to expect ot was all in Spanish on the bus
Awful. The trip was supposed to be 2 hours to get to the first stop but the coach took a 5.5 hour route. The whole way the tour guide was telling stories that were blatantly untrue to sell us something (eg Tesla leaned about energy from the locals and chitchen itza - pretty hard as he never went to Mexico!) The traditional buffet at the first stop is actually a massive gift shop. You are herded through and forced to listen to why you should buy things. If you don’t the staff are almost aggressive as are the tour guides from the bus. They tried to sell us 4 little statues for $800 and when we didn’t want them they were furious. They sold us a cold drink before the food - perfect. But once we got to the restaurant they made us leave the drinks we had just bought as they are not allowed in the restaurant! So we have to buy a second drink. The food was ok but cold and impossible to get to due to crowds of about 15 bus loads. We were held in a room selling chocolate for 20 minutes. The room was locked. We just had to listen to why we should be buying the chocolate (at approx £15 per small bag). We then went to chitchen itza - we paid the bus operator the “cost of the ticket” to make it quicker apparently. Once we were handed the ticket we realised we had been charged an additional 50% on the cost. And the window to have bought it at actual price was completely available with no queue. Just another con one after the other. We didn’t carry on with the rest of the tour. We left the bus and paid £150 for a taxi back to our hotel as we couldn’t stand the thought of another 7 hours on that bus. Lots of families did the same. Avoid at all costs. If you are planning to see chichen itza hire a car and drive straight there.
This tour was a great way to experience Chichen Itza without feeling rushed. The guide was knowledgeable and kept things interesting the whole time. The buffet had plenty of local options and everything tasted fresh. Swimming in Cenote Saamal was definitely a highlight, and Valladolid was a nice, colorful stop to wrap up the day.
The company running the experience was not responsive to questions. We asked where to meet the tour the night before and they gave us incorrect information. We were texting them the morning of, and they were unresponsive. When we finally learned where they were, they gave us no time to get to them before leaving us.
This tour is a scam. Beware - there are approximately US $200 in hidden costs for "life jackets"! When I said we didn’t want to swim, they said that the fee is still payable before getting on the bus anyway. They refused to give my money back. That I spent when booking the trip.
Everything excellent on the tour, the only thing we didn't love was that it started very late.
All my family agreed collectively on 6.5 out of 10 overall. Positives: Mayan dancers, Chitzen Itza itself, the cenote, the Valladolid town (especially the church). Negatives: quite poor organisation, quite a bit of waiting for the whole group unnecessarily, buffet at the Mayan village supposedly unlimited, but served by the locals who will only put e.g. one chicken drumstick on your plate, no alone time at Chitzen Itza. Tips tips tips expected everywhere. Also therr is 40usd tax per person collected at the start of the trip, plus you cannot enter the cenote without a life vest which is also charged on top (5usd pp)
Overall it was a great experience, I do wish we would have had more time at Chichén Itza. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the Buffett was incredible!
The experience was truly wonderful, and our tour guides were incredibly knowledgeable. Every stop we made added to the enjoyment.
