Central Park Bike Tour with Live Guide

A great way to see Central Park and learn about some of its history. Our guide was great and kept a close eye on us to ensure no one got left behind. There are several times that you are going uphill but we were all able to make it up without problems. The park is huge and you get to see so much more when biking vs walking or a horse drawn carriage.

Initially Phil our Bulgarian born guide spent too much time telling us of all the American films shot in Central Park, which we found a little dull. But he soon adapted and once he got onto the history of the place, and took us to places we would have missed on a walk, things improved markedly. It was a good two hours well spent.

Awesome experience. Our guide was Phill and he really enjoys what he does and that feeling passes on to the people he guides through the park. He's really knowledgeable and he will tell you a lot of little details about the park that you'd probably miss or never know if not for this tour. There's also a lot of iconic scenes from Hollywood movies that were recorded in the park and he'll also let you know about a bunch of them with pictures and all. Overall very good experience and would totally recommend to every person visiting new york and central park.

We were out the door with bikes in under 10 minutes. We were surprised by how quick it took. Staff made everything quick and efficient.

Bikes were well maintained and smooth to ride. Brakes and gears worked perfectly on difficult paths. I had so much fun with them.

Bad service, dirty bikes, bad attitude, the tour was so poor of content . No Maintance at all , Bike in bad and also the place!. Not like the picture they show!. Dirty !!. The tour guide, it is not a Tour Guide, it’s a shame!!.

I am writing this review as I have tried to contact the shop via two separate e mail addresses info@bikerentalcentralpark.com and support@bikerentalcentralpark.com with my 12 digit ID Ticket number in the hope to resolve this privately but I have had no response in almost a week so do not feel I have any alternative but to let people know about my family’s experience which was terrible. Firstly, at the beginning of the tour the guide who I believe was called Sergio swore in front of my children using the “F” word which is totally inappropriate. He didn’t seem to care about this and carried on swearing which was in relation to his ex-wife. He then asked where we were from and I when told him the UK, he said nobody likes the Brits (seems funny you like our money though). He then tried to retract this and said people hate the French and Argentinians. What sort of comments are these and got to do with a bike tour around Central Park? Whilst riding around Central Park, he rode off on his electric scooter and depending on where you were, you could not hear what he was saying which for a guided tour is pretty useless. Finally, to top it off, when we returned to the shop, my daughter started to drink an energy drink. He then started to offer his condescending opinion about energy drinks to my daughter about how bad they are for your health and this from a man who smokes! I neither asked for his unrelated opinion nor welcomed it. Against all my better judgement, I even gave this disgusting, self-opinionated narcissistic person a tip to which he didn’t even have the common courtesy to thank me. The information on the guided tour was pathetic too. I got more information on a 30-minute horse and carriage ride than a two-hour bike tour. We also did not receive a bike helmet which is stated on the website which I regard as a health and safety violation. I did not address these issues at the time due to embarrassment and upsetting my wife and children who do not like confrontation. It’s your choice and I’m never one to complain, but I would seriously think very hard about using this company. The staff in the shop look like they are being forced to work there against their will, the interaction and customer service is that bad.

The park itself was pretty. Bike chain kept failing, seat could not be adjusted and no helmets provided. Guide seemed bored and made lots of politics commentary. Liability for this trip could be huge for Viator. Sideswiped once by speeder reading her phone.

Our bike guide Sergio was very good and friendly. The tour covered what you'd expect to be able to see in 2 hours through Central Park. What I was disappointed in was the logistics when you got to the place to star the tour. People were returning bikes as we were just being handed off the same bikes. No cleaning, wiping them down, no adjusting of bikes, etc. We were never given Helmets (the whole group) although tours says they were included. I think a little more prep time in between rentals/tours would be a nice touch.
