You will be greeted in front of your cruise ship as soon as it docks and escorted to a modern, comfortable, air-conditioned bus. Your professional driver will then transfer you through the picturesque flatlands of former East Germany to Berlin. The journey takes approximately three hours.
Upon arriving in Berlin, your professional guide will join the tour. You will then enjoy a drive-by view of Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin’s largest and most magnificent royal residence.
As you drive through the former British Sector, you'll continue along Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s answer to the Champs-Élysées. This iconic boulevard is known for its grand architecture, shops, and historical significance.
Next, you'll see the preserved ruins of a late 19th-century church, a powerful reminder of the destruction caused by U.S. and British bombing raids during WWII. This historic site stands as a striking symbol of both devastation and resilience.
Next, you'll pass Kaufhaus des Westens, the largest department store in continental Europe. With over 100 years of history, this iconic shopping destination is a symbol of Berlin's elegance and commercial heritage.
Next, you’ll be driven through the lush greenery of Berlin's vast central park, passing various embassies along Tiergartenstraße. You'll also see the Berlin Philharmonic and the Memorial for Victims of the National Socialist Euthanasia Program.
Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the sun glinting off the golden angel Victoria, the goddess of victory. As you circle this monumental statue, you'll witness Prussia's bold tribute to its triumphs in the Wars of Unification. It’s a striking symbol of the nation’s power and history.
Upon reaching the German parliament building, which was burned down after Hitler's rise to power and now stands as a bold symbol of modern German democracy, you'll exit the bus. The next portion of the tour will be on foot, allowing you to explore this historic site up close.
As you walk from the Reichstag to the Brandenburg Gate via the Tiergarten, you'll take a moment to pay tribute to those persecuted as Gypsies under Nazism. This brief stop offers a chance to reflect on the tragic history and honor their memory.

After leaving Pariser Platz, you'll take plenty of time to walk through the iconic field of concrete blocks at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. This powerful site invites quiet reflection as you bear witness to the atrocities committed under National Socialism. It stands as one of Berlin’s most moving and important memorials.
Back on the bus, you'll drive past Nikolaiviertel, the oldest district in Berlin, known for its charming medieval architecture and cobbled streets. Located near Rathausstrasse, this historic area offers a glimpse into the city's early beginnings. It’s a striking contrast to the modern developments that surround it.
Next, you'll pass the Berliner Fernsehturm, the second tallest building in Europe, built in 1969 to showcase the power and modernity of the East German state. Standing at over 360 meters, this iconic TV tower remains one of Berlin’s most recognizable landmarks. It offers a striking visual contrast between the city’s socialist past and its vibrant, unified present.
You will then head past the heart of pre-WWII Berlin, where you'll see the Old and New Town Halls as well as the historic Church of St. Mary. These landmarks reflect the city's rich architectural heritage and deep historical roots. It's a glimpse into Berlin's past before the devastation of war.
Next, you'll stop to marvel at the stunning architecture and imperial splendor of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include the Old Museum, the Berlin City Palace, the Berlin Cathedral, and several other historic landmarks. It's a breathtaking showcase of Berlin's cultural and architectural legacy.
Time permitting, you'll head into the heart of one of Berlin’s most striking squares to visit the site of the Nazi book burning that occurred on May 10, 1933. This powerful memorial marks a dark chapter in history, where thousands of books were destroyed in an attempt to silence opposing voices.
Back on the bus, you'll cruise down Berlin’s most important historical boulevard, often referred to as the city’s royal mile. This grand avenue is lined with significant landmarks that reflect Berlin’s imperial past and cultural heritage. It offers a scenic and informative journey through centuries of German history.
Next, you'll bathe in the architectural splendor of Berlin's most beautiful square. Admire the French and German Domes, the Concert House, and take some memorable photos.
Next, you'll have the chance to cross between East and West at the most famous border crossing point over the Berlin Wall, the frontline of the Cold War, where spies roamed and US and Soviet tanks faced off in 1961. Time permitting, you'll take a short break here, allowing you time to snap some photos and buy souvenirs.
At your last stop, you will see the dark heart of Nazi Germany at the former headquarters of the SS and Gestapo, and come face-to-face with the Cold War's most brutal symbol: The Berlin Wall. Time will be taken here for a bathroom break before you board the bus for the last time. Your guide will then accompany you back to Schloss Charlottenburg, marking the end of the Berlin portion of the tour, and you will be driven back to the port.

Scott was an excellent guide. The bus was very comfortable and the sights were exactly what I expected. They made sure we were back at the port in plenty of time.
