Absolutely Appalling with ZERO Help from Viator

Booked this tour via Viator. Received confirmation code and all relevant information. Arrived at the designated meeting point and NO guide appeared. Contacted Viator for assistance and ZERO assistance provided. We stated to the Viator contact that a the time for the tour had long passed we wanted a refund. No refund was available and we were advised that we needed to contact the tour operator and sort it out ourselves. Contacted the tour operator and they advised they had not even received the booking. The tour operator was keen to rectify the situation but as he did not have the booking there was nothing they could do. AS YET VIATOR HAS DONE NOTHING TO ASSIST. THE BOOKING WAS FOR 10 ADULTS SO THE COST WAS NOT INSIGNIFICANT!!!!

Cancelled on us

They cancelled the tour on us less than an hour and a half before the tour started. I wish they would have offered us a different solution. Very disappointing because at that point we couldn’t find another tour.

Berlin Walking Tour

Mikhail (our guide) was extremely knowledgeable about Berlin’s history and culture. That allowed him to address any questions we had and to really show us the section of the city we explored with better clarity (and I lived in Berlin for 5 years). We really appreciated his efforts in our behalf of our walking tour,

Poor customer service and they keep your money!

We booked this tour as they expressed they offered pick up and drop off. 10 days in advance of the tour we messaged them to confirm pick up location and they did not respond until less than 24 hours before the tour, mind you we were on a cruise ship so last minute adjustments are not easy. They informed us at that time they would not pick us up and drop off at the port and we would have to take a train and they would get us at the train station. Of course due to their massive delay in response we had no way to get tickets for all of us on the first train that would get us there. Had they shared this information 10 days prior, when we requested it, we could have made arrangements but they did not. Even their responses in those last hours were delayed and left us unsure about what to do or how to meet them. We requested a refund due to their failure to communicate or disclose that they wouldn’t in fact pick us up at our arrival port and they refused despite the entire reason we didn’t make this tour was 100% their fault! Very disappointed in their lack of customer service. Seems to me this might be a scam. Manage to avoid doing any work and pocket 305.00 simply by ignoring their customers! No accountability for for their failure! Use someone else. There are far too many options out there that will communicate and complete a tour. I own a business and there is no way I would treat a customer this way if my team failed to communicate properly! All of this would have been avoided by a timely response to a very valid request that was necessary to complete the booking.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret the confusion and frustration you experienced; however, we must clarify that the misunderstanding was not due to any fault on our part. The tour you booked was a city walking tour in Berlin, not a shore excursion, which would have included transportation to and from the port. The booking platform, TripAdvisor/Viator, has reviewed the communication and confirmed that the information provided was clear about the tour type. Unfortunately, your expectation of a shore excursion involving four hours of transportation each way was not communicated in the booking or your initial inquiries. Despite this, we understand the inconvenience this caused and following our conversation advised Viator that a refund should be provided. However, we have been informed that the refund process is now being handled through your credit card company, which is beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding. We hope you have safe and enjoyable future travels. Best regards, Private Tours Berlin
