Bento Box Cooking Class

Description
It’s hard to get more traditional than the Japanese bento box. In a way, it’s the perfect meal: it might include an egg roll, rice, pickled vegetables, breaded chicken and even nourishing miso soup, each in its own section of the bento box. The word is derived from an old Japanese word for convenience, and convenient this boxed meal certainly is. In this 3-hour cooking class in the center of Kyoto, learn the art of cooking up a bento box meal. Master chefs demonstrate and then turn the kitchen over to you. In the end, eat what you cook.

The bento box class was great! Super informative and fun! We will most likely try to recreate the recipes at home. Highly recommended 😊
The trainers spoke English well, were really friendly, knew what they were teaching and made the class fun. They were well organized. I would definitely take another cooking class with them.
Fantastic can only recommend! Really appreciated how experienced the cooks were, their attention to details- they made sure we had learned all we wanted to know! 3 hours long class for a very fair price, on a max of 8 people, so very cozy and friendly atmosphere. And ofc, you get to eat your food at the end ;)
Another great cooking class. The instructors are very good .You make you own lunch box (beto box). You make what ever goes in it and you will eat it with gusto.
A wonderful experience! One of the best Japanese cooking classes I’ve ever taken. You learn the fundamentals through simple, accessible recipes, using high-quality ingredients. Yuka and May are kind, supportive, and very professional. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to get started with Japanese cuisine!
Great class - very authentic and in a great location. Learned alot of tips and really enjoyed. Would have happier to be a bit more technical and use more Japanese ingredients.
Three hours flew by!!! So much fun. And I even learned a few new cooking techniques. Class is well organized and designed so you really can’t fail. One of my favorite memories from Kyoto. You will leave stuffed!
So much fun, really well organised. It didn't feel like 3 hours as you were very busy with all the cooking. I would highly recommend it.
5 it was an excellent class. We got lucky we were the only couple, however, Tuka our instructor was fantastic.
This was our favorite activity in all of Japan! We were looking for a Japanese cooking class but most were just a single item. In this class with our wonderful chef/teacher Akiko, we made 6 different dishes! From the fluffy rolled omelets, spinach salad with homemade sesame dressing, chicken teriyaki, sushi roll, miso soup from scratch -to the spectacular shrimp and veggie tempura- it was an amazing experience! Akiko was an outstanding teacher who was not only able to explain the history of the ingredients and guide us through making food but also explain the all important presentation of the full bento box. And to top it off- it was all delicious! We had a great time cooking with our teen children and feel confident we could *mostly* reproduce the meal at home! :) We were given the full recipies for the dishes to take home so we feel optimistic! Thank you so much for this amazing experience Akiko-we are so appreciative!
