Itinerary
Today we visit the most interesting temples outside Angkor Thom city. Departing your hotel at 8.00 am, you begin with first stop at Pre Rup Hindu temple built as the state temple of Khmer king Rajendravarman and dedicated in 961 or early 962. It is a temple mountain of combined brick, laterite and sandstone construction.
Continue a drive for the intricately carved and well-preserved Banteay Srei. The detailed reliefs on this smaller sandstone structure are regarded as the finest, most skillfully crafted in Cambodia. Banteay Srei has only been accessible since the late 1990s, when the Khmer Rouge left the area. We end our touring at Angkor with lunch at the temple (own expense), and a short rest.
Move to Neak Pean, an artificial island with a Buddhist temple.
Construction of this site was commissioned by the great 'temple builder' Jayavaraman VII (in honour of his father) and a visit to this smaller site makes for an interesting contrast with the more imposing Angkor Wat. Preah Khan is currently being restored by the World Monument Fund and in places is in remarkably good condition.

If you want to learn more about Cambodian history, this is the perfect tour! Our guide Mr. Sak was very knowledgeable and can answer any questions about Cambodia. We also had enough time for solo exploration of each place. The tour lasted a full day ending with a sunset view from huge pyramid temple. The driver Mr. Black was providing cold water and towels after each temple. You have the option to bring your own food, if you don't want to lunch at the tourist restaurant, where the prices are 2x than Siem Reap.
Dear Dimitar, Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! We are thrilled to hear that Mr. Sak’s knowledge of Cambodian history added such depth to your experience. We also believe that having the space for solo exploration is key to a great tour, so we’re glad you enjoyed that balance. Mr. Black will be delighted to hear his hospitality (and cold water!) kept you refreshed. We hope the sunset view was a perfect end to your day. Mr Sok was a very good guide and gave us a lot of interesting information about Cambodia and Angkor in between our visits to the beautiful temples. Watching sunset from the top of one of the temples was a highlight. I also enjoyed the visit to the palm cake bakery, where he explained all of the uses for palm in the daily lives of Cambodians, we saw the cakes being made and tasted them. He also shared some personal experiences and insights about the country. I definitely recommend this tour for anyone since it scores high points for variety, entertainment and historic beauty.

This great trip was great due to amazing guide Mr.Sok Chae... if you go to Siem Reap, look for this guide. He is fantastic guide. His English is very good, he speaks about important facts, explains history and daily life as well. He uses maps, books, cell phones to show the areas, points of interest/ flowers in order for us to better understand it. He even draws pictures in the soil to explain, what we will see at the temple... He is very human, sympathetic and well organised. Always check if all people are in the bus.
Dear Keiti, Thank you so much for your kind words! We are thrilled to hear that Mr. Sok Chae made your visit to Siem Reap so memorable. He truly goes above and beyond to make history come alive, and we’ll be sure to share your praise with him—especially regarding his creative 'soil sketches' and organization. We hope to welcome you back to Cambodia again soon! Warmest Regards, Phalla Chhou (Mr.Paul) Operations Assistant Tel & WhatsApp:+85512334657 E-mail:info@journeycambodia.com
THIS tour with Siem Reap Shuttle was so good because we saw so many temples in so many different settings. Again it was very well organised with a very good guide, free water bottles and concern that we all made use of toilet stops. First stop was the late 10th century Banteay Srei temple with its strikingly carved stone door surrounds on an open airy site where trees and walls provided welcome shade in the heat. Then it was on to the mid-10th century East Mebon temple with its main levels reached up a stone staircase. The views from on high back to ground level were stunning. The mid-10th century Pre Rup temple dominating the right angle in a leafy road was next followed by the temple of Ta Som which was built between the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th century. It is the first conservation project to be managed by Cambodian staff from the World Monuments Fund. There are some lovely carvings of apsara dancers and some striking carved stone faces looking down from above stone gateways. We also visited the restoration of the ancient dike at the Neak Proan temple before we finished our day with a visit to the Preah Khan temple with some marvellous stone structures surrounded by 100ft trees. All in all this was such an interesting and varied day that it has to be on any visitor's list of things to do. Don't miss it.
