A very pleasant experience. It is very interesting to discover this world of Arabic calligraphy. Quite a revelation. Very friendly and with details that are not forgotten. Highly recommended
The museum where the tour is located is very easy to find as it is located just outside a main souk. The scribe/teacher, Essaid, is very welcoming and friendly and knows lots about the history of the scriptures. It starts with an introduction to the history of various types of Arabic scriptures, then you get to practice many different letters with the kalam, which is a traditional, hand carved writing instrument. It is fun, informative, and very challenging! At the end of the class, Essaid designed a bookmark, my name on a decorated sheet of paper, and a special portrait with Arabic text woven into the picture. He then packaged it all up and allowed me to take them home to show my family! I had a great time, and if you like art, culture, or history, you will too!
A great 2,5 hour Arabic calligraphy workshop in the lovely setting of Musée de Marrakech. Introduction to the history of calligraphy, the different types, and practice - a lot of patience, hospitality and generous minds and gifts from Essaid and Houssein. A cultural exchange and warmth that stay with you.

A great opportunity to learn the art of calligraphy and a little of the Arabic abjad. Our teacher was very enthusiastic and patient. Location is convenient and communication was easy after booking.

This is a terrific way to explore the culture of Morocco. Whether you are a complete novice who does not speak Arabic, or someone who speaks Arabic and is familiar with North African culture, this activity will enrich your experience. Zizi reviewed the 6 approaches to Arabic calligraphy, as well as the basics of North African / Middle Eastern history that shaped those orthographic styles. He is very good at explaining how to perform each stroke of the reed pen, is patient and friendly, and is clearly enthusiastic about his art. Highly recommended.
We were fortunate enough to be the only two people at the workshop. This allowed us to get extensive practice and personalized attention. Houcine is truly an artist! We were touched by his generosity and hospitality. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking an authentic, unique experience!
Really fascinating workshop. Interesting to learn the history of Arabic script, and the current alphabet. I thought I’d find this workshop easy, but in fact, it required a lot of practice and was pleasantly challenging. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The tutor was incredibly patient, and excellent at helping us to master the skill.
I had the best time trying my hand at calligraphy and learned about Arabic letters and the history of Arabic calligraphy also. The teacher was very patient and funny, and an excellent artist. I recommend!
