Your Private City Tour starts at the ‘new city’, Gueliz & Hivernage, the modern side of Marrakech. The area was designed & built by the French in the early 1900s, and is today the thriving heart of the Red city, where you can spot popular international brands and fine cafés. You’ll also pass by its main avenue, that we love to call “the Champs Elysées of Marrakech”.

15 min

You'll then start your visit of the old town at the Koutoubia Mosque, a key piece in Morocco’s history, built during the 12th century under the Almohad Dynasty. Its minaret remains the tallest building in Marrakech so it can be visible from almost everywhere in the city, like a guiding star, helping you to get directions when you're lost.

Admission not included30 min

Next, you'll visit the exquisite Bahia Palace that fascinates everyone by its fine Moorish architecture, gorgeous ceramic tiles and the majestic beauty of its colors.

There, we'll invite you to a unique cultural trip back in time to discover the Farnatchi, where you can uncover the process of heating the water in traditional public steam baths, called hammams, which dates back to Roman times; the Farnatchi is also where some locals still bring their dishes (especially the typical Tanjia) to be slowly cooked in a wood-fired oven;

The most comprehensive City Tour in Marrakech concludes in the largest souk district in Morocco, where merchants have been trading and selling their goods for the past 1000 years!! Get ready for a complete sensory overload! The combination of sounds, sights and smells are enough to leave even the most hardened of travelers feeling completely mesmerized.

20 min

Afterwards, it'll be time to wander through the fascinating labyrinths of the world's most vibrant and colorful open-air marketplace: The Souks of Marrakech. Between bazaars full of charm & character, stalls packed with mysterious potions, colorful piles of spices, essential oils, exquisite hand-knotted rugs... you'll get to visit the leather souk, workshops of traditional woven Moroccan carpets & handmade Berber boucherouite (rugs), brass lamps & lanterns gallery, and so much more! Marrakech ranks among the great shopping cities of the world. With honest local knowledge by your side, you're in good hands to have a splendid time in the establishments that are worth your time, without worrying to guess where to shop and where not to shop. And even if you have no intention purchasing, this will be a super fun part of your City Tour to experience. You're in for a feast of the senses!

If you wish, you'll go inside one of the city's well-reputed herbal stores, where you can learn everything you want to know about herbs, spices and essential oils while having a Moroccan mint tea and some local pastry. Then, you'll continue your way towards Bab Agnaou, one of the nineteen gates of Marrakech and the main entrance to the Royal Kasbah.

Perfect pace and authentic experience

The walking pace was perfect for the heat. We learned the essentials of Marrakech history to understand our surroundings and artistry of the architecture. I highly recommend this tour.

Avoid (or at least ask for a specific guide)

Our guide, Kamal, arrived late and seemed to always be in a rush. He would ask fairly condescending questions and had an air of arrogance the entire time. He'd often be 20 meters ahead of us and wanted us to rush from one place to another. And when he was with us, he'd be talking on his phone for what seemed to be another job. The tour ended early, which honestly we didn't mind – thankfully we'd run out of cash so could use that as an easy excuse for foregoing a tip!

Everything was good, my...

Everything was good, my guide and driver were very polite and helpful. But I feel like with the price that the tickets should be included. Or that you should get something like a water at least. Especially since you don’t even leave the city.

Pleasant morning in Marrakech despite the heat

Our guide Mohammed was very patient with us and let us take our time doing a bit of shopping and finding ways to cool off in the 41 degree heat

Great tour for a weekend visitor

Rahid was great, very knowledgeable and down to earth guy, met me at my hotel (sorry I was waiting outside and couldn’t see him first), gave a very efficient tour over the main sites in Marrakech, assisted by a driver with a van standing buy and moving us to the further away points and back. Along with skipping all lines it saved me a ton of time navigating the city myself. I had a great time, thank you!
