As you get closer to Amboseli National Park you will immediately notice that the greater Amboseli ecosystem extends far beyond the park's official boundaries. This is crucial for its famous wildlife especially the elephants which can be seen roaming freely in the neighborhoods between the protected park and the surrounding community lands. At this point you will start to have a full view of the ice capped Kilimanjaro which welcomes you to Maasai land.A Maasai village visit is an option to experience their culture which is deeply intertwined with this incredible ecosystem. At the village you will meet the locals and witness their fire making techniques, beading prowess and history of their nomadic livestock keeping as an economic activity. The visit also offers guests a rare opportunity to enter their homes and see firsthand how they live. Immersive and captivating stories about their past traditions and current co-existence with wildlife will leave you yearning for more.
Dominating the Amboseli skyline is the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro Africa's highest peak. Though situated across the border in Tanzania Amboseli offers arguably the most iconic and breathtaking views of this towering snow-capped mountain. From inside Amboseli National Park Kilimanjaro serves as a dramatic ever present backdrop to your safari. Imagine a herd of elephants silhouetted against its mighty slopes at sunrise or a lone acacia tree framed by its imposing presence. The early mornings and late afternoons often provide the clearest views when the clouds typically shrouding its summit disperse creating truly photographic moments that embody the spirit of East African safari. Even from outside the park as you drive towards Amboseli or stay in nearby community conservancies Kilimanjaro's sheer scale is evident. Its colossal form looms on the horizon hinting at the natural wonders that await you within the park. It's a constant reminder of the untamed beauty of this corner of Africa
Welcome to Amboseli National Park better known as the home of elephants! This unique park fed by Kilimanjaro's springs boasts diverse landscapes and incredible wildlife. Its stars are the elephants which you will see vast herds often with huge tusks roaming freely. Beyond them spot majestic lions massive hippos in the swamps and a vibrant array of birdlife.Later on climb the Observation Hill for stunning 36 degree views of the park including an unrivaled vista of Mount Kilimanjaro. A park resource center with a library that offers valuable insights on conservation, history of the Kilimanjaro ecosystem in general and it's significance to the local community. Amboseli is a complete safari experience!
Explore Amboseli's vast, shimmering dry Lake Amboseli. For much of the year it's a colossal basin of cracked, white, alkaline earth—a stark remnant of an ancient lake, perfectly living up to the Maasai name "Empusel" (salty, dusty place). After heavy rains, it can briefly fill sometimes attracting a stunning display of Flamingos. Driving its expanse offers a surreal experience; intense heat creates mesmerizing mirages of floating trees or wildlife. This open dramatic landscape provides a unique photographic backdrop, especially with Kilimanjaro and enhances wildlife spotting
A captivating feature of Amboseli is Lake Kioko, one of the park's vital freshwater sources. This beautiful lake fed by crystal-clear underground springs from Mount Kilimanjaro's snowmelt remains largely permanent. Its lush banks and open waters are a constant draw for wildlife. You'll find large pods of hippos here their grunting calls echoing across the water. Lake Kioko is also a true birder's paradise, teeming with spectacular birdlife. Look for majestic African fish eagles, pelicans, and a vibrant spectacle of **flamingos** that often gather, creating a striking pink fringe. Interestingly this permanent water supply influenced the park's history. The former Amboseli Lodge once stood nearby but due to rising water levels and the dynamic nature of these spring-fed wetlands parts of it eventually became submerged leading to its closure. This serves as a unique testament to the powerful natural forces at play within the Amboseli ecosystem.
Visit a traditional Maasai village near Amboseli and gain insight into one of Kenya’s most iconic cultures. You'll be welcomed with lively songs and the famous jumping danc then guided through the village to see how the Maasai live, build their homes, and uphold centuries-old traditions. Learn how the community balances daily life with the challenges of living alongside wildlife..protecting their cattle from predators while coexisting with elephants, lions, and other animals. Hear firsthand stories from elders and warriors, step inside a traditional manyatta hut and watch local women demonstrate beadwork. Finish your visit with a chance to purchase handmade crafts that directly support the community.

We had the most amazing experience with our tour guide Eddie; Eddie and the Wildsasa Adventures team were incredible helpful leading up to the trip, and made a huge difference in the planning and execution of our safari. They took on board all our requirements and restrictions and really helped plan out the entire trip, providing suggestions and tips to help best fit the limited time we had. They even helped recommend lodges/accommodation that would suit our requirements, and were extremely accommodating to our many many itinerary changes up until the day we flew out. They were also incredibly responsive throughout, and available to answer questions or help at any time. The safari itself was an incredible experience, and Eddie really pulled out all the stops in order for us to get the most out of our experience; he was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and patient with us, and really made sure we saw everything we possible could in Amboseli National Park. His knowledge of the wildlife and the landscape was truly impressive, and was genuinely a pleasure to spend the time with. I cannot recommend Wildsasa Adventures enough for anyone planning a safari of any kind in the future - I will most definitely be using this firm again for any potential future adventures! 5* customer service, 5* experience, cannot fault this team at all. Thank you Eddie for such an epic adventure.
Hello Alice, we appreciate your feedback and are happy to know that you enjoyed your safari in amboseli with our team. Thanks for choosing us
My trip to Amboseli National Park was supposed to be about Mount Kilimanjaro and elephants, but it turned out to be so much more. It was a day filled with adrenaline, breathtaking views, and warm cultural connections. 🐘 Wildlife Highlights • The Icons: Seeing the massive, snow-capped silhouette of Kilimanjaro for the first time was deeply emotional. Surrounded by the park's famous elephant herds, including adorable calves playing nearby, it felt like a scene from a movie. • The Thrill of the Hunt: The absolute highlight was a rare cheetah sighting. My guide spotted it from afar, shouted, and floored the accelerator across the plains. Arriving just in time to see this predator in the wild was a total adrenaline rush! • Diverse Encounters: From elegant giraffes blending into acacia trees to hippos lounging in the swamps, the park was teeming with life, including zebras, wildebeests, and vibrant birdlife. 🍱 Beyond the Game Drive • Picnic with a View: Lunch at Observation Hill was surreal—eating sandwiches while watching elephants roam below, with nothing but the sound of the wild wind around us. • Cultural Immersion: Visiting a Maasai Village was a heartwarming experience. Joining their traditional jumping dance and learning about their way of life inside their manyatta houses added a beautiful human connection to the trip. 🦁 Closing Thoughts While the lions remained elusive this time, it only gives me a perfect reason to return. A huge shoutout to my incredible guide whose passion and "maniac" driving made sure we didn't miss a single moment of the action!
