We were given the option of a pick up time for 7:00 am but the night before they changed the scheduled pick up to 6:30am instead which caused us to skip breakfast. Mind you they do not make any stops for breakfast or snacks just other passengers (this can lead up to two hours for pick up). At this point we've canceled our breakfast and are waiting in the lobby for 15mins past 6:30am and I had to message them to know if they were even coming. turns out we had been rescheduled until 8:40am and if I hadn't messaged them they wouldn't have even told me. Long story short, 8:40am comes and goes and again I have to be the one to reach out over and over until they finally respond to confirm they're even coming. Because of this delay, the entire trip is shortened to an hour (or even less). Their compensation? upgrades to include drinks onboard...the drinks? a couple miniature water bottles. Let's talk food, the description says buffet all you can eat but it should say all you can stomach. They take you not to a restaurant, but to some shaman's abandoned, half constructed backyard full of infected zombie dogs (wish I was joking, their skins were practically coming apart in chunks) that roam around the food. Speaking of which, the buffet style setup is all outdoors. as we lined up to grab plates, the stacks of plates are full of bugs and some weird white powder. The servers solution for that, he wiped the plates with his shirt, he said "no pasa nada Chicos" (tell that to the pit in my stomach). Moving forward, the tour explains that the buffet is all you can eat DRINKS not included. The restaurant charges $10 per drink and that's actually pretty common but the restaurant was disgusting so I had the guy cancel my drink and I got a bottled soda instead for safety. The good parts: the history guy is super cool, funny, and gives great history explanations. Tulum and Coba are the highlights of the excursion (The cenote on this tour is forgettable) They do transport you like any other tour would (if we forget about how late and uncommunicative they were) To summarize our experience of this particular excursion left us unimpressed due to the lack of communication, lack of accommodation and choice of restaurant.
Unfortunately, I didn't like it. I had 2 previous experiences that I requested through LATAM travel. I didn't like it because you cancel a value from this platform when requesting the reservation, but later they send you an informative where I had to cancel US$80 more app (when I reached the meeting point) that did not say it in any section and that is a very high value compared to other tours I had taken and also with 4 places to visit. When there was a contingency at the country level, we were told that it was our decision to go or not (for our safety), when we were about to leave and that if we desisted we were not returned to the hotel. The guide to my liking, ungainly in his route and explanation. I don't recommend it.
We enjoyed the day and the experience. It might not be a luxury trip, but it is authentic and you discover beautiful charming places. Eduardo, our guide, was really entertaining and created a good atmosphere with the entire group. We loved Tulum and we wished we had more time in Coba. Our day was a bit cold, but when we saw the cenote, we could resist to jump in. Thanks for the great day.
It was a long day and i think Tulum and Playa should be a trip you pursue on your own because the time spent there is limited. BUT Coba and the cenote are worth it! The food is absolutely AMAZING!!! Remember to bring money to tip your server, driver and bike guide (in Coba). They work hard and provide excellent service. Ave was our guide. He's a pretty cool guy!
They didn’t show. I never heard from the company they were supposed to pick us up and they never came.
This is a very poorly planned tour and on the top of it badly executed. It appeared that the guide was arrogant and had ego issues. They picked us up at 7 in the morning but the actual tour started after 9 am only. The tour operator brought the tourist in small vans from various areas to a meeting point where they put us on big buses. The worst part is that there was no stoppage for breakfast and the lunch stop was after 3;30 pm. The Cenote that was part of the tour was also not one of the best ones in the area. The last stop in a town after 7:30 - 8:00 pm was for only 45 min and by that time everyone was tired. Overall not a trip worth taking.
The communication about pick-up times and locations was confusing. We may have been getting information from more than one source. The host for the day was wonderful and the locations we visited were informative and enjoyable. We started our day in Tulum so we weren't part of the trip to Playa Del Carmen since Tulum is out of the way for the return portion of the days events.
Jorge and Luis were fantastic guides. They were prompt at picking us up at our hotel and were very communicative with us throughout and before the tour began. Jorge was very knowledgeable regarding history of Tulum and Coba. Luis our shuttle driver got us to every destination quickly and did not waste any time! Jorge did a great job in informing us that we were not allowed to take plastic water bottles to ensure preservation of Tulum. We were all offered lots of ice cold water and other drinks. Thank you Jorge and Luis for a great tour, we truly appreciate appreciated your knowledge, humor, and thorough communication! We highly recommend this tour!
We left at 9hs, since the announced time was 7hs, in Tulum the tour was only 40 minutes, well run, so we had a pincel of the place (guide explained mto little), in Coba we had 1,30 hs, but as we went to pe, we had no explanation, the cenote was reasonable, and the lunch tbem, we arrived mto late at 22hs, the visit to the city of del carmem and dispensable,
Amazing tour! Very informative and personable guide. He was giving us lots of information and tips along the way. Made sure we rested during car rides so we were ready for all the activities. Lots of walking (4-6 km) between Tulum and Coba. Alternates available for those who dont want to walk as much. Sunscreen and hats are must. Cenote experience was an amazing adventure. Wish we had more time to swim because it takes a little bit to get ready and go down. The 45 min stop at playa del Carmen is good to stretch your legs and have a small snack on the way back. Expect to be out 14 hours that day.
