The Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Saint Peter in York, commonly known as York Minster, is the cathedral of York, North Yorkshire, England, and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe.
The National Railway Museum is a museum in York forming part of the Science Museum Group. The museum tells the story of rail transport in Britain and its impact on society.
The Jorvik Viking Centre is a museum and visitor attraction in York, England, containing lifelike mannequins and life-size dioramas depicting Viking life in the city. Visitors are taken through the dioramas in small carriages equipped with speakers. It was created by the York Archaeological Trust and opened in 1984.
York has, since Roman times, been defended by walls of one form or another. To this day, substantial portions of the walls remain, and York has more miles of intact wall than any other city in England. They are known variously as York City Walls, the Bar Walls and the Roman walls.

York Minster and the Shambles Too much time spent waiting on buses. We didn’t get to see all we wanted to see.

I never received the tickets prior to departure. When we arrived in York, the Hop On Hop Off didn’t know anything about this reservation so we had to buy tickets again. On the return trip, the train was packed and we had to stand the entire return journey. This operator likes taking your money, but leaves you completely on your own. STAY AWAY>
