I would note upfront there seemed to be some confusion for other travelers - there is NOT a boat ride as part of this experience, and there will be travel by Underground from Winchester to London Tower for the final stop. This does not seem to be well documented on the website previously, so just a heads-up! What it IS, though, is a walk through London's underbelly, highlighting a few areas of ill repute and the notorious crimes that were committed. There is also some ghost stuff, but this could really be described more as a London crime/history walk that ISN'T Jack the Ripper. We also visited during a heat wave, and our tour guide Julia frequently checked in with everyone in our small group to make sure we were all hydrating and feeling well enough.
Very entertaining The guide was just amazing We recommend it 👍
Worst walking tour I’ve ever done! I’ve been on many throughout the world, some amazing ones in both Rome and New Orleans so I know what to expect. This was absolutely horrible. Stories were uninteresting, the guy walked so fast you had to sprint to keep up. It was like checking off a list, rather than an experience. Then we get on the subway (??!!) - not told where we’re going, how many stops, nothing. Everyone was so confused. Finally get to the stop and it’s just a 2 min story about the Tower of London and then you’re just left there…. Seriously not worth the time, energy or money- even if it was free, I would recommend skipping this!
I went on a similar ghost tour a few years ago and because I know a lot about this subject I decided to go on it again. But the main difference was that on the last one the tour guide and the guests went to the Tower of London by river boat, on this one we got there by the London Underground AKA the tube. The tour guide Murray really knew his history about the haunted locations and I actually confirmed to the other guests that a story concerning 50, Berkley Square was absolutely right. I don't want to get into the actual story because I don't want to freak anyone out here. All I will say is that it didn't end well for individual spending the night in the most haunted part of that house, which was the attic. If you wanna more, go on that tour. What I also found quite amusing with Murray was that there were some children who came along on that tour and they were interacting with each other throughout the trip. Most of the guests who go on these tours are from different countries and I have noticed that they are either believers, sceptics or unsure. Whichever side of the fence your on, it's worth going on these tours and I think you might enjoy the dark and spooky history of London. If you decide to go on this tour, don't get scared now.
Booked for the walking tour with added boat ride . Got there and had to wait another 10-15 minutes as the group was too big and needed another guide . To then be told that the boat part would not be going ahead as there was miscommunication . Which was the main reason I booked . Tour guide spent most of the time with his back to us on his phone . Then told we have to get on the tube to the next part which we had to pay for ourselves . To end up at the Tower of London for less then 3 minutes . Complained and told the person who booked the tour would get a partial refund not the person it was gifted too and went on the tip or Evan a voucher . Bit of a shambles .
Ghost tours are always the best way to get a small peek at the regular lives (and deaths) of some real people that aren't published in history books. Wicked Westminster was no exception. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, this was a fun tour and a great way to see the city. The weather was perfect which definitely helped. The meeting place was easy to find and the tour guide was very interesting and a good story teller. I don't recommend this tour for small children or those who aren't capable walkers.
Murray- thank you so much for such an engaging and entertaining tour. We had so much fun. As a huge tudor fan, I was delighted with all the places and stories I heard. Thanks again! Definitely heading to Barkley manor 😁
