My family of 5 went on our first rafting adventure down the Kootenay river and had an unforgettable time! Quinton was an amazing guide--informative and super funny! The scenery was breathtaking and the experience (including the delicious lunch) was unique and fun for all ages! We cannot thank you enough! We will be recommending Kootenay River Runners to all our friends and family!
Thank you so much for your kind review! We're thrilled your family's first rafting adventure was such a memorable one. We'll be sure to pass your compliments along to Quentin. It means a lot that you'll be recommending Kootenay River Runners, and we look forward to welcoming you back on the river!
Corporate greed at it's finest. There was a huge power outage in the area that lasted multiple days. The company was unwilling to refund costs when families should be more concerned about food, water and where to get gasoline to get home. Apparently, there wasn't enough cancellation notice. I'm sorry we can't predict when wildfires will burn down critical electrical infrastructure. Was told it wasn't possible, because rafting "doesn't need electricity, and they have cinnamon buns for food" Would not recommend, all about money. Forget you and your family and safety.
Hi JT, I have responded to this review on another platform, but we are happy to provide more information of the details, our intentions, etc here. I am sorry you have this feeling of your experience. We can appreciate there was anxiety and uncertainty in the situation. Our intention was certainly not for greed or to provide bad customer service, but rather to provide reassurance and to discuss details with groups to help with trip organization. We certainly always try to make the best of situations. To clarify some information at the time of your tour the power outage was not quite 12 hours (overnight). The tour left at 8:30 am and there was no risk to safety for fires, etc. The fire responsible for the power outage was over 100km away and actively being targeted. You are correct that there was no gasoline available and limited food and truthfully that was part of the encouragement to attend. As there was limited availability at the time, attending the trip would allow you to enjoy our food and tour and allow some time for perhaps the situation to improve. The trip ended at 1:30 with plenty of time to alternatively return East if that was your comfort level if the situation didn’t change. It is not uncommon for it to be resolved in this timeframe and there was no communication from local authorities that the outage was going to be extended or certainly no advisory that there was a need for people to leave or to evacuate. We do not expect guests to gather all of the local safety info or predict. We also leave that to local authorities and there was no risk for our trip to operate safely. For further information cell service was also available as I do believe we chatted on the phone as we did not have any discussion regarding cancellation in our office that day, the fire situation improved early in the afternoon and the power was returned later that evening (approx 24 hours). We provided a fun and safe trip that many enjoyed, to salvage some fun in a stressful situation for some. Please note that our tours also require minimum numbers to operate safely and in some situations allowing last minute cancellations can cause cancellations for other guests that are eager for the tour, which they have scheduled. I am sure future guests can see that we aim to provide great customer service and safety for all of our tours from our numerous years operating and our reviews. Our company also does work hard to provide our tours at a low cost and a lot of value. For example the tour you participated on is $100-$120 for a 5 hour guided tour with transportation, gear & food. Our family owned and operated business has operated with many concerns of wildfire, power outages, etc in the past and our first priority is always safety. We would never operate if safety was a concern, however that was not the case. Many guests thanked us for the reassurance, but we understand that everyone has their own comfort level, from my recall of our phone call I misunderstood that you were within yours to attend our trip. We further apologize for that misunderstanding. If you have further concerns please feel free to contact us directly, we would be happy to discuss.
Every part of this was fantastic. The workers were all wonderful -the front desk, Russ the driver, all the guides, and the provided lunch was perfect (Kootenay 2nd half day trip). I felt safe and had fun. Our guide Zach was informative, friendly and clear when calling out cues. This company is obviously very experienced at taking people of all levels on the rivers.
Thank you for leaving us this great review! Stoked to hear about your time on the river with Zach and how much you enjoyed it.
We just wrapped up a half-day white water rafting trip on the Kootenay River near Radium, and it was an absolute blast. A huge shoutout to our guides, Quentin and Tony. They were outstanding, as was the rest of the crew. They placed a massive emphasis on safety right from the start, which put us completely at ease. The trip itself was so much fun—complete with epic water fights out on the water! They even hooked my boy and me up with extra hot chocolate, which was the absolute perfect touch. My wife, Rishelle, and our two boys (15 and 11) agree this was a major highlight. Everyone in our crew loved it, and we would highly recommend this to anyone!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review! Awesome to hear about your trip and how much the family loved it, we hope you can book again in the future!

Sweet! Glad you had a blast with our Kicking Horse crew in Golden. Hope to see you again on the river!
My family had a great experience rafting from Radium this weekend. It was a hot day so the cold water spray was exactly what we needed. We had only planned to do the 1/2 day tour but our guide, Tony, was so awesome and made it really fun so we decided to do the full day!
We're stoked to hear that you had such an awesome time with Tony that you decided to stay on for the full day! Seeing the waterfall is something you definitely didn't want to miss out on. We hope you can join us again for another river adventure in the future.
