It is misleading to take people out on a whale spotting boat tour when you openly know there are no whales as they have already migrated. I specifically asked before booking (9pm previous evening) if there had been any recent sitings, to be told yes & then less than 12 hours later (8am next morning) email saying not to expect to see them as they had migrated. Conditions on ticket say no refund!!! All we saw was 4 seals and although nice enough boat ride definitely not worth it. To add insult to injury they gave out ‘come back for a free boat ride’ compensation vouchers - duh?! It’s the tail end of the season!!! Captain describing the bay as a ‘dead bay’ and the lack of seabirds would have been a clear indication of NOTHING TO SEE.
Unfortunately no whales seen but overall a great experience. Unfortunately, we were relatively late at the end of November. At this time of year, the whales are relatively rare in the bay. As compensation, a huge swarm of dolphins, estimated at more than 100 specimens, accompanied us for about 15 minutes. And we saw some seals. Besides the safety instructions, there was a lot of information about whales and co. Despite the high seas, we felt safe and in good hands.
Great trip - Johannes and his team are very knowledgeable which meant we got to see a number of whales and also learnt a lot about the habits of the Southern Right Whales.
This was such a great trip. Really knowledgeable guides. Very respectful visit to see the whales. Such a great trip. Highly recommended
Worth the Journey from cape town, they are very careful with whales, they look for them very eagerly and explain
So happy that we booked out tour with this company. Great experience - of course there are never any guarantees of what you see but I got the feeling they knew exactly what they were doing and where to go. We got the best sights of whales right next to the boat, swiming under and around us. Small boat and around only 20 passengers so never felt crowded or too much. Better than expected and highly recommended company to use :-))
Had a fantastic morning trip and were so lucky to see some whales so close. The mothers and calves stayed near the boat for some time so we got to see a fair amount of activity. Was a highlight of the holiday!!
We saw the whales close up in their natural habitat and this was amazing The skipper and guide were patient and allowed us to get as many pictures as we needed always keeping us aware of the whales behaviour and reactions to us
Whale watching from whole bay South Africa. It was fantastic. All of them are on the boofmd looking for whales. And yes, we found them. The crew were very friendly. Told super much about the whales and all the life in the bay.
Very good organized and they also respected the space to the whales. We were happy and saw one baby so close, because it came by itself to the boat. It was a very special experience for me. I would definitely go again.
