Itinerary
Experience the beautiful Cornish sea air, eat a pasty or have a cream tea.
Time to stroll the labyrinth of streets, or take a coffee overlooking the beach and relax in the morning sunshine.
An old market town, now famous for its seaside lido, one end of the Great Western Railway that starts in London and port to The Scilly Isles.
A small quaint fishing village, where the houses cluster around a small protected harbour.
A rugged cove set in an area of outstanding scenery this is an idyllic place to experience the sea close up, equally stunning when it’s blowing a gale or flat calm. Now famous for attracting Post Impressionist artists from The Newlyn School of Art in the early twentieth century.
Local myth and legend says that this stone circle was formed when 19 maidens were turned into stone for dancing on a Sunday. A brilliant example of a Neolithic stone circle from 3000 BC.
If you’ve ever seen Poldark this tiny fishing hamlet will bring back memories of smugglers and pilchard fishing.
Created by Rowena Cade in the 1920’s this open air theatre is built into the rocky granite cliffs above Porthcurno.
Porthcurno is famous for two things. Firstly the aforementioned Minack Theatre and secondly The Telegraph Museum where transatlantic cables came ashore from all over the world.
The most South Westerly point in Britain. A great place to watch the waves crashing over the rocks below and to have your photo taken underneath the destination sign.
Originally thought to be the most western point of Great Britain until Ordnance survey maps suggested otherwise. Bought in 1987 by the Heinz family and then bequeathed to the nation it does have an iconic symbol at the top of the cape.
Ross Poldark’s mine “Wheal Leisure” is filmed here along with the mines owned by his cousin Frances and his father George Poldark. In 2006 the area was designated part of the UNESCO World Heritage site for Cornwall mining.

Be careful. Do NOT book this tour if on a cruise ship! Our cruise ship cancelled this stop due to weather (winds causing waves) and we only got 10% refund back. Lost over $1,000!!
Our driver, Simon, was excellent in giving us a full day of Cornwall experiences and in maneuvering the narrow lanes that allowed us to get to places that large tour buses cannot get to—beautiful and peaceful places. Our only complaint is that we stood around for quite some time to meet up with him when he was there the whole time but in a vehicle that gave NO indication that it was connected to Meneage Tours. It would have been nice if we been told to look for Telstar instead, especially since I inquired twice ahead of time as to how to recognize our tour at the dock.
We didn't know anything about Cornwall or the region, and we saw both Poldark sites and others. We also enjoyed a classic pub lunch.
Glad you enjoyed your tour with us 👍
We had the best day with Doug!!! We arrived on a cruise ship and were promptly picked up. Our tour was informative and fun. Back on board, it was apparent that we saw more than anyone else. I would highly recommend this tour!
So glad you had a great day. It’s great that you saw Western Cornwall on a sunny day and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. 👍
What a great experience! We couldn't have been happier, except we should have planned to stay longer. Phil was a great guide, highly entertaining, and a great host. We experienced Cornwall as never anticipated. Thank you for a great experience.
We’re pleased that you had a great tour and look forward to seeing you hopefully for longer next time 😀
Loved this tour. Communication with the tour provider was outstanding. Phil met us at our hotel on time and was very courteous. He listened to our wishes, and even though we didn't have specific places we wanted to visit, Phil recommended a tour which was outstanding. Even though the weather was fairly typical for this time of year, cool and wet, we pushed through and visited many mines, Penzance, St Ives, Lands End, Mousehole, and several Poldark locations used for filming. He allowed us ample time for walking and hiking and brought along a large umbrella for our use. He was very well versed on the history of the area, and we stopped at a country side pub for a lovely lunch of pasties and English roast sirloin of beef with yorkshire pudding, potatoes and fresh vegetables! 😋 yum! Phil showed us the out of the way historical markers, such as a historical field of prehistoric markers in a farmers field which could be visited by the public, similar to Stonehenge. Of course, we did visit the field, albeit the mud, wet and cool weather! I also got a lot of pictures of the lovely daffodils in bloom around Cornwall! It was a bit muddy that day, but we had a great time! My husband and I highly recommend this tour and really really appreciated Phil as our tour guide!
Thanks for a great review and so pleased that Phil was able to make the tour unique to you. Marvellous news 👍
Doug is an amazing tour guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Cornwall & surrounding area & about many of the Poldark filming locations. He made the tour unforgettable. I highly recommend this tour.
Thanks for your great review 👍
We had a wonderful time spending two days with Doug seeing so many amazing places in Cornwall. We did his "Lizard Peninsula" and "Poldark & West Cornwall" tours across the two days, with a few tweaks here and there to accommodate our specific interests. Before the trip, he was very responsive to all of my questions, and during the tour he did a wonderful job driving us through and to places we never could have found or navigated on our own. He is very knowledgable about the area and all the places we visited. It was our first trip to Cornwall, and we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to all of the beautiful places it has to offer!
So pleased you had a great time and look forward to seeing you again in Cornwall soon. Thanks for a great review 😀
We loved this tour with Doug at the wheel. Very informative and visited some beautiful parts of Cornwall. Pub lunch was very good a full day of history and magical scenery. Would love to do it again. Thank you Doug for looking after us.
Glad you had a fantastic time and look forward to seeing you in Cornwall again soon. 👍
