Walking tour around Colonia del Sacramento Old Town

Description
Discover the Old Town of Colonia del Sacramento with an official guide who will tell you the history and curiosities of each place, in addition to recommending the best restaurants and activities in the city and the area. We will walk through the Field Gate, "La Calle de los Suspiros", the lighthouse, the yacht harbor and the church, among others. The walking tour lasts approximately 1:30 hours and is done in small groups. It starts at "La Fuente Portuguesa", next to the church "Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento", and follows a circular route through the Old Town, ending at the starting point. Colonia del Sacramento is a picturesque and welcoming city, a must-see when visiting Uruguay or Buenos Aires. It can be seen in just one day, but it is recommended to spend a night to enjoy one of the best sunsets in Uruguay and walk through the Old town under the warm light of the typical lanterns from Colonia. Hope to see you soon!

Perfect quick tour when you have only a couple of hours in town. Mayra was friendly, interesting, informative.
This is an absolute must do especially if you don’t have much time in Colonia. Our guide Mayra was fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke flawless English. It was clear that she had a depth of information on each stop, and was able to answer the group’s questions on other things about Uruguay that were not necessarily part of the tour. Especially for the reasonable price, I highly recommend this tour.
Very very difficult to find the meeting spot. The local people did not know the name of the square where we were to meet . The guide later said thats becuase hardly anyone lives in n the old district . We virtually did did the tour trying to find it walking back and forth . The meeting spit is near the basicilia( church) if you decide to go. Not much of a tour the guide was very nice but thats about all i can say about it.
Your guide was wonderful. Learned so much about the history of the city!
Tour very rich culturally with the guide Carlos, who is himself the living and passionate history of this place. Very good experience rich in detail and without rush to finish
We liked the history, it was a good length in time for us to understand/introduction to the town and be able to go and visit other places of interest after the tour and spend more time walking around.
I booked for Viator. The tour was very pleasant and excellent for those who want to deepen into the rich history of the city of Colonia. The Idoia guide is very friendly and demonstrated a lot of knowledge about all aspects of the city (history, architecture, gastronomic tips etc.). Although he does not speak Portuguese, his Spanish is very easy to understand. I recommend.
The tour is run by an independent guide, Iodia. She is super friendly and knowledgeable. I ask a lot of questions and she was able to answer all of them. She is able to guide and be conversant at the same time. We had 5 people on our tour and she encouraged pictures and questions. Her English is excellent. She is easy to understand and speaks clearly. Colonia is a small area- easily walkable but you would miss a lot if you did not take the tour. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed this tour! The guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing the city’s history and culture. She was also very patient and eager to answer my many questions, which made the experience feel personal and engaging rather than rushed or scripted. I learned a lot and would definitely recommend this tour to others.
I spent the day in Colonia del Sacramento and it was a very pleasant experience. The city is charming, quiet and with excellent cuisine. An important point is to take agasalho, because by being near the river the climate becomes much cooler, especially in the late afternoon. The sunset is simply beautiful and makes the walk even more special. The ferry trip from Buenos Aires is super fast and comfortable. On the return, walking through the quiet streets to the boarding point was a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. A walk that is well worth it!
