Travelers will tour the historic center of Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will walk through its cobblestone streets, among colonial lanterns, walls and views of the Río de la Plata. Our guide will share stories about the Portuguese foundation, the Spanish-Lusitanian architecture and the legends that still live in its corners. Travelers will visit the emblematic Plaza de Toros Real de San Carlos, an architectural gem opened in 1910 and recently restored. This historic monument, unique in its kind in South America, merges the Spanish bullfighting legacy with Uruguayan cultural identity. During the stop, you will appreciate its wrought iron structure, tour its galleries and learn about the stories that marked its brief but intense life as a stage for shows. Description: Travelers will enjoy a complete experience at the historic Los Cerros de San Juan Winery, founded in 1854 and surrounded by vineyards that are spread over stony soils unique to the region. The tour includes a guided tour of the vineyards and the production facilities, where the winemaking process and the history of the place are explained. Then, there is a directed tasting of selected wines – such as Tannat, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc – accompanied by a lunch with regional products, in a natural environment that invites contemplation and enjoyment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing day with Andrés exploring Colonia and visiting the Fripp Winery. Colonia is beautiful and Andrés filled our visit with stories about its history as well as personal stories about growing up there and the local culture. The winery was beautiful, even in winter, and we enjoyed a tour and a fantastic lunch with paired wines. Andrés looked after us the whole day making our tour really personal and fun, it was like being shown around a small part of Uruguay by a good friend. Can’t recommend this tour and Andrés highly enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If I could give this tour ten stars, I absolutely would. My mother and I had the pleasure of joining Andrés for the Silex Tours: Wine, History and Culture in Colonia del Sacramento, and it was truly spectacular from beginning to end. Andrés is incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and passionate about both the region’s history and its wines. He created such a welcoming atmosphere that it felt less like a tour and more like spending the day with a friend who knows everything about Colonia.
