When we were planning our trip, it was hard to find out what we were looking for before the trip. There were four adults from the US. We flew United from Houston to Trinidad. Landed around 1am and our ferry did not depart until 6am from the port (about a 30-minute taxi ride). We arrived and decided we would just stay at the airport until it was closer to leave. Since we didn't have a hotel there, we would need to find and pay for our transportation to the port. On arrival to airport, we made our way to the outside/inside. We had a few hours, so took out some cash from the ATM Ended up getting 3000TT for the week. Grabbed a subway sub and bottle of water 48TT. Also had to try a corn fritter for 10TT. Before leaving had a Latte 34TT. Around 4am we went to find a taxi from the station, luckily there was one that was early. Apparently, there is a night shift and a day shift. It was 320TT from airport to Port. Went on the GALLEONSP1. was scheduled 6am arriving in Tobago at 10am. We left at 6am but arrived almost at 11am. The staff was absolutely wonderful on the ferry, and they distributed very good quality barf bags. Yes, after 2hrs almost everyone was throwing up in their bags. It was terrible. It was like a roller coaster that you couldn't get off. If you get seasick or motion sick, fly do not take the ferry. Our hotel was Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort (Adults only) set up a taxi to pick us up from the airport for $175TT for four adults. The hotel was in Black Rock on Caribbean side. Our Taxi driver was Orville Mc Pherson 868-683-8502. Orville was very nice. We used him for an Island tour ($1000TT for four 9am-6pm) and the return drive ($125TT) to the airport when we were leaving. We asked the front desk about car rental, and they called Sheppy's Auto Rental 639-1543. We were renting for one night, which I called each morning and extended the rental for the whole week. Rental car costed $241.64 US$ for all week and gas for the week cost $32.83 US$. What did we do all week? Went to Sunday School in Buccoo (They are wonderful), Went to beach at Pigeon Point, Went Diving, Snorkeling, Glass bottom boat, Feeding the Hummingbirds, Waterfall and food. It was a fabulous week. Hotel- Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort (Adults only) good for the price, but they are working on a few repairs. A lot of items on the menu that take a long time to get and get at different times. It was a scratch kitchen. Flew Caribbean Airlines bar to Trinidad then United to Houston. Would I go back? Absolutely. Did I feel threatened at all, no. Everyone was super nice.
