Vienna Christmas Market Crawl

Description
Vienna’s most famous and coveted markets are the Christmas markets. Taking place from the middle of November to the end of December, a Viennese Christmas market is a special experience. There are large Christmas markets with hundreds of stalls selling Austrian delicacies, handmade wooden toys, souvenirs, and of course mulled cider and wine, to tiny Christmas markets wedged inside dead-end cobblestoned streets-blink-and-you’ll-have-missed-it. Each is unique and unforgettable in its own way. Join us on a whimsical Christmas market crawl that will take you to the following markets: •Karlsplatz • Maria-Theresa Square •Rathausplatz / City Hall * Depending on the various markets opening times, one of the markets above may be substituted with another (equally as beautiful!) Christmas market.

Christmas markets in Vienna! I’ve been to Budapest and Germany but Austria certainly has something special in the form of Vienna. I went especially for the Christmas market and I suggest, GO! The Rathaus market is stunning with the cathedral towering above. An ice skating rink, a small Ferris wheel, a Heart Tree, carrousel and probably 100+ wooden Christmas market stalls. Mulled wine Galore to keep the cold at bay and such a happy place to be. People smile! I bought lots of ornaments, baubles, presses for the grandchildren and ourselves and the most expensive thing was TRUFFLE CHEESE 😜 If you have not yet visited Vienna and its Christmas markets 7 in total, I do recommend you do! Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New year to you.
We initially were going to have Lisa as our guide but she became ill and we had Ute instead. She was wonderful. She picked us up at our hotel. She knew exactly which U Bahn to take to help us make the most of our time. She showed us 4 very different Christmas Markets. She explained which things were traditional (both decorations and food) and their significance. By the end of the tour when we arrived back at our hotel I felt I truly understood the Christmas traditions of Vienna and Austria. I would highly recommend this tour.
Luis was a wonderful tour guide! He speaks perfect english and he is so warm and kind. He went at our pace, and he was very conscious of what we wanted to see/do. He took us to the Christmas markets, and bought us lovely beverages, and then took us to the Opera House, a small museum, the Hofburg Palace, among other places. It was a perfect amount of time, history and sites. I would highly recommend!
Great selection at all the markets. Great Christmas trinkets and lots of food and drink. Gluwein ceramic mugs make a nice memento
Yay! So happy you enjoyed the tour :)
