Our experience was wonderful . Raphael, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, showed us all around Reims led us to a delicious lunch after our tour and really made the whole trip very interesting and memorable.
Thank you so much! I hope you had a nice trip back home. All the best!
My wife and I had a wonderful day with a private tour with Raphael in late June 2025. He arranged the tour at Veuve Cliquot and another local champagne house. The tour of the local house was very intimate, and we got to see the process in a very personal way. Raphael's tour of the city of Reims and of Notre Dame de Reims was also very interesting. He knows a lot about the city and the region and had more food recommendations than we had time for. He was also very communicative in advance of the tour, punctual on the day of the tour, and was fun to hang out with. The whole process was very easy. I'd recommend the tour to anyone.
Thanks so much Pete!
To be honest, and particularly with hindsight, this experience seemed overpriced. The tours themselves were interesting and the tastings were good, but for two people the cost of the tours booked was just over £200 (if booked direct with venues.) That left the balance (over £500) going on being driven between between Reims, the tours and being shown around Reims cathedral. A little pricey for what you get. The following day we did a half day tour with another guide. Two tastings, just like this one, but a third of the price, and actually more fun with a group.
Hi Robert, thanks for the feedback. I understand that you did not value the full day spent with a private certified expert guide and the visit at the world famous Veuve Clicquot champagne. If you come back, next time you can come on my shared group tour where other guests may participate too. Cheers!
Enjoyed the history, food and bubbles! We were shown all over town and outside of town, took some great pictures, and went to a small champagne house and ended in Veuve Clicquot. The only little negative I could think of was I wish we could have spend more time relaxing at Veuve, but that is a personal choice. Since that was important to me and the reason to have chosen the tour. However everything was great, and we both enjoyed the tour.
Hi Lisa, thanks for the review! If I had known, I'd have arrived earlier at Veuve, sorry. All the best, Raphael
Raphael made the day so easy and filled it with such amazing points of history about the town and the region. Both Champagne house we visited were wonderful experiences. The family owned and run Daniel Dumont were so welcoming and informative. Brilliant tasting. Then Veive Clicquot in the afternoon. Amazing history of the brand. The site. The caves. Such an informative tour. We felt so comfortable there. Loved the day. Thank you
Thanks you so much for this lovely review Caroline! All my best to you and Georgia!
We had a wonderful day in Reims with Raphael! He picked us up at the train station in Reims (45 minute train from Paris) and was very pleasant to be with the entire day. He is very knowledgeable on the entire area and French history. The tours of the wineries were a lot of fun and educational. We had a lovely lunch in Reims. Raphael is a terrific guide and very pleasant. His tour of Norte Dame in Reims was exceptionally informative. We had a great day trip to Reims on our Paris vacation
Thanks for the review! All the best Raphael
an experience in the widow's gardens that will never be forgotten. The city is divine and the care and appreciate. Worth every penny
Obrigado! - Raphael
This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Our tour guide Raphael was extremely knowledgeable, not only about champagne, but of the history of the city. He was also able to make recommendations for other restaurants and things to do while we were there. I would highly recommend this tour but I guarantee that if your tour guide is Raphael, it will be exceptional.
😍 THANKS Barbara, it was a pleasure to host you and your family! Regards to John, Justin and Keisha.
This tour is tre bien (wonderful!). Leading up to the tour, Raphael - the tour guide - did a great job of communicating with us about all the details! Getting to Rheims from Paris, where to eat lunch when you take a break etc. Le Petit Compitour is where we chose for lunch from his list and it was delicious! Veuve Clicquot delivers; the property, the tour guide, the winery, the gift shop all sparkle like the fine bubbles we drank. I was pleasantly surprised to learn the story behind this champagne (ladies, I’m looking at you!). The smaller winery was everything you would expect. The owner provides the tour and it’s up close, personal and educational. We bought a case (here that’s six bottles). Between the two wine tastings, I feel like I learned a great deal about my favorite wine! 🥂 Far and away (after the epic bubbly bien sur) the best part is Raphael himself. He is an official French (not just wine!) tour guide and know his French history and Rheims (Hans in French). Every question we had, he had the answer for! He is professional, kind, helpful and highly educational. What an incredible history behind Rheims - this medium size city in Champagne! We were treated to a tour of the city (pleasant surprise!); stopping at Notre Dame Rheims and other points of interest. As a Catholic, Raphael taught me so many things I didn’t know! Oui oui! I highly recommend this tour! Cheers! Au revoir! 🇫🇷🥂
😍 Thanks Leslie!!! Hope you had an easy trip back home. All the best to you and David.
We had an amazing time with Raphael! He was communicative and extremely friendly and knowledgeable. (He also has a great reputation in the community as we heard at both wineries we visited.) He was great with our one year old who was along for the ride too. Raphael was so accommodating the entire trip, and had extra knowledge to add at each stop and as we were driving around to add extra context. We very much enjoyed our visit at the family winery, and were pleasantly surprised at the tour of Veuve Clicquot too - it was informative and more personal than we had expected. All around a fantastic day and we could not recommend Raphael more to anyone looking for a guide through the champagne region!
Hannah, this is very humbling and rewarding, thank you so much! It was a pleasure to spend the day with your lovely family, and the baby is so cute. All the best.
