Logan, our guide took us on an amazing trip in difficult weather. We saw porpoise, dolphins, stellar sea lions, sea otters eagles and more. He talked about each of the animals we saw, and taught us about them. He explained the water flow around the islands which was very informative. While we did not see a whale, the trip was a great value!!
We’re so glad you enjoyed your time on the water despite the challenging weather. While wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, it’s great to hear you were able to see such a variety of marine life and that Logan’s knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience both enjoyable and educational. We truly appreciate you joining us and hope to welcome you back again soon!
A great trip, led by the sympathetic and very knowledgeable Captain Kennedy. Seen every conceivable wildlife!
Awesome afternoon Zodiac tour yesterday--fun, gorgeous. Connor was a great skipper-experienced and conscientious. It's early season, Victoria Day weekend, and some operators in area haven't started tours yet but real glad we chanced it. We hung out respectfully with total of 3 humpbacks and loved seeing otters, sea lions (Stellar's), bald eagles, harbor seals, harlequin ducks, and more. Look forward to getting out with these folks again, maybe when the resident orcas are back in the area. We capped an incredible day on the water with an evening paddle with sister company North Island Kayaks, led by Brad and Stella, who are excellent.
Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a fabulous day on the water with both our Zodiac Whale Watching tour and North Island Kayaks. It’s great to know Connor provided a safe and memorable experience while you spent time with humpbacks and all the incredible wildlife in the area. Early season can be special in its own way, and we’re glad you chose to join us over the Victoria Day weekend. We’ll also be sure to pass your kind words along to Brad and Stella for your evening paddle- they’ll be so happy to hear that it was a great way to cap off your day. We really appreciate you joining us, and we’d love to welcome you back again soon for another adventure!
Kennedy was our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and great pointing out different things for us to see. My son took me for Mother’s Day (a bucket list item for me) and even though the weather was not the best it was still an amazing day. I think we saw everything hit an orca. The humpback whale though more than made up for it. Stellar sea lions, otters, dalls porpoise, different sea birds (my favourite was the rhinoceros auklet) and seals. I felt like I was in a live episode of National Geographic! Kennedy gets a high five rating from me. Thanks for the great morning! A trip my son & I will treasure forever!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us, and for your lovely review! We’re thrilled to hear that your Mother’s Day bucket list trip was such a memorable one for you and your son. Kennedy will be so happy to hear your kind words- she truly loves sharing her knowledge of the Salish Sea and helping guests spot the incredible wildlife out there. Even with less-than-perfect weather, it sounds like the day delivered some unforgettable moments. Thank you again for joining us for such a meaningful celebration- we’d love to welcome you back anytime for another adventure!
To be honest, all the boat trips we did across Vancouver Island were amazing, and this operator is still good—but it was our least favourite. It has more of a big, commercial feel compared to the others, which felt more local, intimate and personal. They have larger capacity vessels, which is great if you’re booking last minute. We still saw orcas and eagles, and the staff were friendly. That said, if you’re looking for the best experience, I’d recommend Mackay Boat in Telegraph Cove or Eagle Wings in Victoria. Visited late August 2025.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad to hear you still enjoyed seeing orcas and eagles and found our team friendly. We understand that our larger vessels can feel different from smaller, more intimate tours, and we appreciate that perspective. Our goal is to provide a comfortable and accessible experience while still delivering memorable wildlife encounters. We truly value your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on the water in the future.
Wonderful day on the water searching for whales and seal otters. We saw so many whales I lost count. Richard, Sandy, Megan, Janas and Eden spent the entire trip educating us while keeping up safe. Big bonus is all the wonderful pictures we received after the trip. I’d recommend this trip to anyone who asks!
Great to hear you had a wonderful day on the water with us! Our lovely crew certainly have a lot of knowledge and passion to share. We're glad you received some great photos too, so that you could immerse yourself in the experience on board and still have memories to take home. We hope you had a fabulous trip to the North Island!
I had high expectations. I wish I could have seen the killer whales. Instead, thanks to the gloomy day, we saw little and nothing and that not far away. That's too bad. Gray and black landscape, all seasoned with cold.....
We were with a Road Scholar group. The weather was a little foggy early but had cleared when we left. I was so surprised by the ease of finding whales, humpbacks and orcas. We saw sea lions, seals, dall's porpoises, harbor porpoises, and eagles. The water was smooth and glassy. Perfect conditions! Trip of a lifetime!
What a wonderful day on the water! Thank you for making the trip to come visit us and the wildlife. It certainly is a magical location! We're glad to hear the conditions were great for smooth sailing. We hope you learned lots on board and had an overall peaceful visit.
Went out today on a half day whale watching trip out of telegraph cove. Amazing experience. Saw humpbacks feeding and breaching, orcas and sealions!. Amazing work by the crew Val Connor and Kennedy despite the heavy fog!. They still got us on whales and taught us everything they could when we were looking for them. 5/5 would recommend

Traveled with Road Scholar. So appreciated seeing the Orcas and humpback whales. Deeply appreciated the passion of the guides for the animals and care and compassion and concern about the environment. I came home with a renewed interest in and concern about environmental issues.
Thank you for sharing this review! It is fantastic to hear that you felt inspired by the wildlife and the information you learned about them, advancing a deeper interest in their protection! We aim for everyone to feel that same sense of personal responsibility to take action to protect these natural wonders.
