Description

What is the DMZ – an exciting experience like no other While the Cold War happened a long time ago, Korea is the only country that still remains divided as a consequence. The DMZ lies on the border between the North and the South. This is the most heavily fortified border in the whole world, so don’t miss the chance to see it! OPTIONAL : Gondonla Gondola tour is one of our most popular DMZ tours and can also be an excellent alternative to our DMZ Tour when political or military events restrict access to some of the stops on those tours. OPTIONAL : Red Suspension Bridge The Gamaksan Red Suspension Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Korea at 220m long and 1.5m wide. It can hold up to 900 adults and is constructed to withstand 30 meters per second winds and earthquakes of up to 7 magnitude. Its stunning scenic views make it the perfect spot to capture beautiful photos, and it is always well-received.

We offer three convenient meeting points in downtown Seoul. These are Myeongdong Subway Station (Exit 9), Seoul City Hall Subway Station (Exit 6), and Hongdae Subway Station (Exit 3). Here you can meet your lovely tour guide and our comfortable DMZ tour bus. Please aim to arrive around 10-15 minutes early, in case of any delays, and to ensure you find your way to the meeting point on time.

Admission included30 min

Dive into the Korean Demilitarized Zone, a 4 km-wide strip splitting North and South since 1953. Hear the eerie quiet as gravel crunches underfoot. See barbed wire gleam and feel the Cold War’s lingering tension. Your guide shares tales of defectors and secret tunnels, sending chills down your spine. Peer through binoculars at North Korea’s propaganda villages, their mystery gripping you. This DMZ tour from Seoul blends history and intrigue, offering a front-row seat to a divided world. It’s an unforgettable journey into Korea’s heart.

Admission included30 min

Start your DMZ adventure at Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park, a vibrant ode to peace. Hear colorful pinwheels whir and smell fresh pines. Touch the rusted “Iron Horse” train, a Korean War relic of a broken North-South railway. Opened in 2002, this park draws millions to reflect near the DMZ. See ribbons with prayers for unity flutter in the breeze. The view of North Korea’s hazy hills hits hard. Snap photos and feel history’s pulse in this poignant stop on your Korean Demilitarized Zone journey.

Admission included30 min

The Bridge of Freedom, a temporary wooden span built in 1953 after the Korean War armistice, replaced a destroyed railroad bridge over the Imjin River. It carried 12,773 prisoners to South Korea, who shouted “Long live freedom!”, earning its name. Hear its planks creak and the river rush below. See ribbons for lost loved ones sway, vivid against rusted piers. Smell the damp earth as you feel the war’s emotional weight. The scenic backdrop begs for photos. Walk this historic span on your DMZ tour from Seoul for a powerful connection to human stories.

Admission included30 min

The JSA Museum is a standout must-visit on this DMZ tour. It's the only site outside the actual Joint Security Area that brings Panmunjom's history to life so vividly. You'll step into precise replicas of the T2 and T3 conference rooms, where the defining talks that split Korea took place. Our exclusive partnership means only our guests can enter this unique interactive museum, deep inside the restricted DMZ and closed to anyone without a guided tour.

Admission included10 min

Mangbaedan Memorial Altar, built in 1987 near the DMZ, is where families honor loved ones in North Korea, especially during holidays. Hear prayers on ribbons flutter in the breeze. Smell faint incense and touch the altar’s cool stone. See the Imjin River sparkle and feel the sting of division just kilometers away. The distant hills add a poignant backdrop. This stop on your Korean Demilitarized Zone tour weaves heartache with hope for unity, offering a moving moment that lingers in your heart.

Admission included10 min

Journey to Jangdan Station on your DMZ tour from Seoul to witness the Iron Horse, a weathered steam locomotive that once thundered along the Gyeongui Line before the Korean War brought it to a halt in 1950. Now a preserved relic since the 1953 armistice, this bullet-pocked giant stands as a haunting testament to Korea’s divided past, its rusted frame frozen on tracks that once linked North and South. Run your fingers over its scarred metal and feel the echoes of wartime chaos, with the Korean Demilitarized Zone’s quiet hills as a stark backdrop. Perfect for striking photos, this stop captures the raw emotion of the Korean War, making it a must-see highlight of your Korea DMZ trip that will leave you awestruck.

Admission included10 min

Pyeonghwauijong, The Peace Bell, is a 21-ton bronze symbol of reunification in Imjingak Park, cast in 2002. Feel its deep chime vibrate through you. Touch its gleaming surface and hear prayer flags rustle. Smell pine-scented air as sunlight glints off its curves, with hills rising nearby. Its ring echoes across the DMZ, stirring hope. Travelers love this iconic sound of peace—it’s Korea’s heartbeat. Stand before the bell on your DMZ tour from Seoul for a soul-stirring experience you’ll carry with you.

Admission included10 min

We will stop shortly at the Unification Bridge military checkpoint. Here, soldiers will inspect our bus and carry out ID verification checks. Please have your passport, Military ID Card, or South Korea-issued ARC (Alien Registration Card) ready so we can proceed to cross the bridge and enter without delay.

Pass by

Our bus will glide over the serene Imjin River, taking in its stunning beauty. We will watch for vibrant wildlife and birds thriving undisturbed in this sanctuary since the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed.

Admission included30 min

A stop not to be missed on our itinerary is the Third Tunnel, also known as the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, or the Third Tunnel of Aggression. Located 12 kilometres away from Munsan and 52 from Seoul, the tunnel was discovered in 1978. Its purpose was to be used to invade the south. At 1,635 meters long, 2 meters high and 2 wide, the tunnel has the capacity of moving an entire division per hour! The curious fact here is that when the tunnel was discovered, North Korea alleged that the south had built it for a surprise attack, but evidence points to the contrary. Walking through will feel like you’ve stepped back in time! If you aren’t comfortable with closed spaces, you’re welcome to wait by the exit.

Admission included30 min

Dora Observatory, rebuilt in 2018, offers South Korea’s closest view of North Korea, established in 1986. Sitting at the top of Dorasan, the Observatory is ideal for looking across the border. This is the part closest to the North and is one of travellers’ favourite highlights on the tour! Use the high-powered binoculars on the third floor for extra precision. You will be able to see the North’s propaganda village (Kijong-dong) located right inside the DMZ and see as far as Kaesong City, the ninth-largest city in North Korea. If you’re lucky to be here on a clear day, you’ll get to see the bronze statue of Kim Il-sung, too! Hear faint border loudspeakers and feel wind whip through pines. The DMZ’s divide feels raw. Travelers love this stunning perspective. So come and stand on history’s edge during your DMZ tour from Seoul for a jaw-dropping glimpse across the border.

20 min

Unwind at Tongilchon Jangdankong Maeul, a peaceful village tucked just beyond the DMZ’s Civilian Control Line, where the pristine lands of the Korean Demilitarized Zone nurture Korea’s renowned Jangdan soybeans. Indulge in the smooth, earthy richness of handmade soybean ice cream, a local treat that travelers can’t stop praising for its distinct flavor, born from the region’s fertile soil. Explore the village shop for unique souvenirs like Jangdan ginseng tea, soybean snacks, or artisanal crafts to cherish your DMZ tour from Seoul. This stop doubles as the final restroom break before your return to Seoul, ensuring a relaxed journey back. The village’s tranquil vibe offers a refreshing contrast to the DMZ’s tension, delivering an authentic taste of Korean culture that’s both heartwarming and unforgettable.

Admission included30 min

(optional) Sit down with a genuine North Korean defector for a moving, face-to-face talk that brings the realities of life under the regime vividly to life. Listen as they recount what it truly means to survive in one of the planet's most isolated societies, the brave choice to escape, and the dangerous path they took toward freedom. This extraordinary and personal meeting gives the DMZ a human heart, transforming distant history into a story you can feel and connect with. Afterward, you're invited to join an open Q&A, where you can ask your own questions and discover perspectives no book, film, or news headline could ever capture.

Admission included60 min

(Optional) The Gamaksan Red Suspension Bridge in Korea is a 150-meter-long and 1.5-meter-wide suspension bridge built in 2018 to honor Korean War heroes near the DMZ. It can hold up to 900 adults and is constructed to withstand 30 meters per second winds and earthquakes of up to 7 magnitude. Its stunning scenic views make it the perfect spot to capture beautiful photos, and it is always well-received. Previous guests always recommend this option in reviews and often comment on how picturesque it is, that it was a highlight for them, and that the “bridge was a view to remember.” Feel it wobble 30 meters above Seolmari Valley as you take in Gamak Mountain's glowing peaks. Snap epic photos as planks creak underfoot while crossing this thrilling, wobbly bridge. Add this to your Seoul DMZ tour for a heart-pounding adventure blending history and stunning natural beauty.

Admission included60 min

(Optional) Majang Lake’s 220-meter suspension bridge, built in 2017, spans a reservoir turned urban oasis from a 2000s farm site. Feel it bounce as you cross, heart racing over dazzling waters. See greenery reflect and smell wildflowers. Peek through bulletproof glass below for a rush! Boardwalks and cafes add trendy vibes. Snap selfies with epic views—travelers love this crowd-pleaser. DMZ Tour

Really glad we did the DMZ tour, it’s a must if you want some real historical depth beyond the usual Seoul sightseeing. The best part by far was our guide Ray, he really knew his stuff on the Korean War and made the whole history come alive. Everything ran like clockwork too, timing and organization matched exactly what they told us at booking. Highly recommend it!

A Must-Do DMZ Tour from Seoul

★★★★★ Excellent DMZ Tour with Nova An outstanding experience from start to finish. Nova was a knowledgeable and engaging guide who provided excellent insight into the history and significance of the DMZ. The stops at Imjingak Park, the Third Infiltration Tunnel, and Dora Observatory were fascinating, but the highlight was meeting and speaking with a North Korean defector. Hearing a firsthand account was both moving and unforgettable. This was one of the most meaningful experiences of my visit to South Korea. I highly recommend this tour and especially Nova as a guide.

Cold war experience

It was a very intresting journey and a whole new experience. Very recomended for someone who willing to experience anti mainstream journey. You also need to prepare for hiking because a lot tracks are steep. Diane was a great tour guide with a bright knowladge regarding DMZ and her own experience of her grandma story was very touching. Overall was very tiring and extraordinary.

Great guide but disappointing for someone with a disability.

Tour guide (Jenny) was excellent. Very informative and well organised. Not very good for anyone with disabilities. I have MS (had it for 30 years and have continued to travel as much as I can). I felt like a burden and was often left behind. I feel that this could be easily improved by just asking me at the beginning a little bit about what I could and couldn’t do. It is really tough having to g a disability and don’t assume we are stupid and need to be shouted at and ordered around.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We're pleased to hear that you found Jenny informative and well organized, but we're truly sorry to learn that parts of the experience made you feel left behind. We sincerely appreciate your honest comments about accessibility and communication, and we'll share them with our team as we continue to improve our tours. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. Regards Stella
