Tulum and 2 Cenotes Half Day Tour from Riviera

Our experience with this tour was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. Between the poor communication, disorganization, misleading advertising, and lack of concern for guest experience, I would not recommend this company. Booking & Transportation: The communication leading up to the tour was extremely poor. I was explicitly told when trying to book that our resort was outside the pickup boundary and that we needed to travel to a designated pickup location. (I could not submit my booking until I did select a location) We spent $115 on a taxi to get there. After arriving on time, our guide showed up 35 minutes late and immediately scolded us for not being at our resort, insisting they had gone there to pick us up, resulting in their late arrival. When I explained that we were following the written instructions we had been given, she argued with me until I showed her the messages proving we had been directed to the pickup location. Only then did she acknowledge that dispatch had apparently sent her to the resort instead. This mistake cost us both time and money. Guided Tour The guided portion of the Tulum ruins was, unfortunately, the worst part of the day. The guide moved at an extremely slow pace, repeatedly covering the same basic information while providing only little historical depth in English. It appeared that the Spanish-speaking guests were receiving much more detailed explanations than the English-speaking group. The guide was also surprisingly rude. At one point, she physically brushed one of my teenage daughters aside while she was trying to take a photo. That behavior was completely unnecessary and unacceptable. The tour itself was conducted on a very high heat day, which is beyond anyone’s control, yet we spent long periods standing in direct sunlight with no access to water. We were never advised beforehand to bring or purchase water prior to the tour beginning, as a result, two of our teenagers came dangerously close to suffering heat exhaustion. Basic guest safety should be a priority, especially in this climate. Cenotes & Lunch This portion of the tour was very misleading. The tour description advertised four hours at two cenotes, but we received only about 1.5 hours total. That is nowhere close to what was advertised. The booking also stated that a buffet lunch was included. While food and water was available on site, we were informed upon arriving at the site our package did not include that option. Meaning we went from 8:00 a.m. until nearly 4:00 p.m. in intense heat without food. That is unacceptable for an excursion of this nature lasting over 6+ hours. To make matters worse, after the cenotes we were instructed to wait inside the van, which the guide claimed was cool, while everyone else changed and loaded up. The van had little to no air conditioning, trapping us in even hotter conditions while we were already overheated and dehydrated. Overall Experience This was actually my second visit to the Tulum ruins. I first visited in 2022 and returned specifically because I wanted to share the beauty and history of this incredible place with our teenagers. My previous experience was outstanding—the guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history… this tour was a far cry from that experience. From the unnecessary taxi expense caused by poor website verification & dispatch, to the disorganized pickup, rude guide, misleading itinerary, lack of food and water, and disregard for guest comfort and safety- the entire day was frustrating and deeply disappointing. Tulum and its history deserves a much better tour experience than what was provided to us this week.

Improper excursion. Guides Estrella and Blanca very friendly and attentive. Perfect knowledge of the place and its history. I highly recommend this team.

Overall, it was a good and varied tour. I just do not quite understand how the additional fees of 40 dollars are composed. The entrance fees are only 510 pesos.

The tour seems like a very complete experience; the transportation is of high quality (cleanliness of the vehicle, punctuality for the pick-up, air conditioning). The driver Samuel is attentive to the road. The guide Jesús Cuevas provides interesting information during the transfers and in the Tulum area. The buffet-style food is of excellent quality and offers a variety of options. Swimming with the turtles is enjoyable. 100% recommended.

This was a great trip from start to finish. We were picked up promptly from the hotel and then transferred to a separate coach so that everyone on this trip could go straight to the destination without dropping off other people to other attractions, which made for much shorter travel time. The Tulum guided tour was great, Mr Moo was very knowledge, friendly and patient with people, and an authentic Mayan. The highlight was the trip to the real Mayan village and swimming in the two cenotes, they were just magical! We walked to the further away cenote first when we arrived which mean for a while had it all to ourselves. It was great to browse the homemade wares in the Mayan shop too. We received bottles of water and snacks as well. Brilliant value for money! If you don't have US dollars for the tourist tax they will accept Mexican pesos too ( we only had pesos as we are from UK) Just email and ask the amount as they won't have change. It made our trip to Mexico

Top-notch with magnificent cenotes to visit. A delightful moment of discovery in a peaceful place. A must-do.

After visiting Chichen Itza with Raul, we were very happy to discover that he would be our guide in Tulum. He confirmed our opinion: very knowledgeable and friendly, he made this excursion fantastic! Highly recommended!

It was a very good experience. Our guide Jesus has a lot of knowledge in the archaeological and historical part which gave much life to our visit to the old town of Tulum. The two cenotes and lunch was in a Maya village, where we can see how the people currently live. Finally, snorkling with the turtles was a unique experience where we saw many marine animals.

It was a slightly rushing day, but it delivered everything it promised. We had about an hour in Tulum, then we went to see two cenotes (one covered and one semi covered). Both beautiful but not spectacular. Then we had lunch in the park where we saw the cenotes and finally we went to Akumal beach where we saw turtles and some fish species. Our guide (Raul) was always very attentive, gave us all the information and explanations we needed and gave us to taste Maya chocolate.
