Transylvania Castles 4-day tour from Bucharest

This tour was just the best! Our guide, Catalin, was just amazing. Not only did we learn about the history of each location he also was very knowledgeable in the vegetation, trees and birds! If you like castles and history, highly recommend this tour. Very great value for the money!

My girlfriend and I took this tour not really knowing what to expect. Wow we were blown away! The tour guide, Ioana, was such a pleasant, enthusiastic, and genuine person who wants the trip to be educational, fun, and memorable. The culture, architecture, history, landscape, and locations themselves are all things we explored with Ioana. It was absolutely spectacular, and super easy-going with many opportunities to explore the historic cities alone and gain much knowledge about the sites you visit. If you are interested in architecture, Romanian/Transylvanian history and culture, book this trip, you will not regret it!!

Rolandia was fantastic, and our tour guide George was one of the nicest people we've ever met and really did everything to make us feel welcome. Note, we didn't do this exact tour but close - we did a custom private tour that started in Budapest and went to Corvin, Bran, and Peles castles. We stayed overnight in Timisora and Sibiu. Would definitely recommend Rolandia - they made planning very easy and were super accommodating to what we wanted to do. All three castles were very cool to visit, and loved how quaint Sibiu is!

Beware of "Guaranteed Departure" with Rolandia! I signed up for this 4-day tour and paid for it in advance specifically because as a solo traveler, guaranteed departure was important. At no time during the booking and paying process was any minimum number of people listed or cited. Relying on that, I then reserved non-refundable hotel rooms for the nights before and after the trip. Several weeks before the trip, Rolandia emails me to cancel the "guaranteed departure". I had to scramble to make my own train, hotel, and day trip bookings. While they refunded my payment and offered alternatives that would not work for me (such as after my flight leaving Romania), they refused to compensate me for my hotel room in Bucharest the night before the guaranteed tour which I could not use because I needed to be in Brasov that night to start tours first thing the next morning. So, if you see "Guaranteed Departure" from Rolandia, think again!

Wonderful experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history, and the itinerary was busy enough without being too demanding. Hotels were good quality and the guides driving was very safe.

The trip was amazing, Romania is beautiful and our guide Vlad was excellent. Vlad is super friendly and knows a lot about history, he also made an effort to speak in Spanish and made our trip unforgettable. Thank you Vlad for your patience. We hope to come back!!

This was a dream trip of mine, and I was not disappointed! I escaped from my teaching duties to travel throughout Romania as the passenger princess of the endlessly amazing Emil! I was a bit nervous as this is my first solo trip in a country I don’t speak the language, but Emil took phenomenal care of me. Not only did he drive carefully on the road, but he remained calm during situations in which I would have been a ball of stress. He was patient as I failed miserably at learning some Romanian and asked him various questions. His knowledge seemed so endless that I don’t think he ever answered me with “I’m not sure”—even when I asked him about the species of trees in the area! He also took amazing pictures when I was too shy/embarrassed to ask. He had excellent restaurant and dish recommendations. He taught me so much about the culture and history of Romania that I fell even further in love with the country. He was extremely kind and took very good care of his weird little American client—despite her habit of escaping up stairs without ropes across them. Thanks so much, Emil! The tour company was kind and helpful as I originally signed up for a group tour—but no one else joined. They were kind enough to organize a private tour for me as these were the dates of my Fall Break from school. I came for castles and mountains and that was exactly what I got! Emil worked his magic to open doors and got us into all the castles and citadels and churches. He then explained the history and legends of the location as we walked around. It was truly an amazing experience and I couldn’t pick a favorite spot if I tried! Thanks so much!
