If you’re visiting Lisbon and want to truly connect with Portuguese culture, this cooking class is an absolute must. Beatrice is a wonderful host — knowledgeable, warm, and full of amazing stories and anecdotes that bring every recipe to life. The recipes are completely authentic, the kind passed down through generations, not watered-down tourist versions. You really feel like you’re learning the heart of Portuguese cuisine. What made it extra special for us: the whole group spontaneously sang a birthday song for my husband — a beautiful, genuine moment we’ll never forget. That kind of warmth is hard to find. Fully worth every euro. Book it without hesitation!
Friendly host, great explanation of Portuguese culture, wonderful food, accommodating of dietary restrictions, and generous with delicious wine!
One of the best cooking classes I have ever had!! A traditional 3 course meal (with lots of 🍷🙌🏼) taught by Miyuki @homecooking_lisbon !! She was amazingly calm and lots of good helpful tips and direction. 😊🧑🏼🍳
Great experience! We made a delicious meal and the experience was fun. We learned about the culture and the experience was fun for my teenage kids and my in laws. A must do!
Great menu and instructions. Would like to have the opportunity to prepare more dishes. Group was great although a few food restrictions impacted the experience. Instructor was very accommodating.
Such a fun evening making delicious, traditional Portuguese dishes! The time went by so fast. The wine was flowing, our group was friendly, and Diogo was a fantastic teacher/chef. Highly recommend this experience. The place is modern and beautifully decorated inside.
First I will say the the class building and staff were wonderful! It was very clean and well organized. The lady who led our class kept things moving in a very enjoyable timely manner that made the time fly by! I gave 3 starts because I was disappointed with the actual menu vs what was listed as a sample menu on the website. This trip with my sister is very special and we won't get to do something like this again. There were many classes to choose from and we chose this specific class carefully based on the Sample Menu which listed 3 starters: Caldo-verde, Pica-pau, Amêijoa à Bulhão Pato (Clams Bulhão Pato Style); several Main Dishes: Bacalhau à Brás (Codfish Brás Style), Pataniscas de Bacalhau (Codfish Fritters), Carne de Porco com Amêijoas (Pork meat with Clams), Migas com Entrecosto (Pork Ribs with Migas); and several Desserts: Pastel de Nata, Arroz Doce (Rice Pudding), and Torta de laranja (Orange Roll). I assumed we would be making all that food. We made a different appetizer altogether (friend deviled eggs). We did make 3 main dishes: Migas com Entrecosto (Pork Ribs with Migas). Beans & Rice, and a cod dish (Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá). The fish was already cooked so we just flaked it. Although that saved time I wanted to learn how to cook fish (another reason I chose this class) but didn't get to. For dessert we made the famous Pastel de Nata. The cooking process was well organized and very enjoyable, but I was very disappointed not to make one of the appetizers listed. I'm not a fan of eggs and would have chosen a different class knowing that was our appetizer. When I'm paying so much for a class I research the details expecting to get what I read on the description. Our teacher told us the pork is normally marinated overnight and then cooked. I understand why - it was very tough once cooked. I enjoy Pastel de Nata but was very excited to make the other desserts listed. If I ever get another chance to do this type of class I will ask more questions about the specific menu. Or perhaps the description can be more clear about what food is being made. Overall, I recommend taking a cooking class in Lisbon and if the specific dishes listed are not important to you then take THIS CLASS!
An absolute highlight of our trip! We had a very hands-on evening learning to prepare authentic Portuguese dishes. Our chef, Miguel, was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and generous with the wine! I can't recommend this highly enough."
Fun way to learn to how to make new dishes and meet interesting people. Well organized. Clean. Modern. Lots of food and drinks. Would recommend!
Theresa was an incredible facilitator. She made us comfortable, made everything very clear with a lot of background on the ingredients and history, and it was very very fun. She's clearly passionate about what she does. And the food was incredible. I highly highly recommend. And of course you get to char with fellow travelers while you cook and eat and drink, what could be better??
