My daughters and I went to the cooking class outside Dubrovnik and it was the highlight of our trip to Croatia. Transportation was seamless, the hosts were delightful, we felt that we learned a lot about the local culture, and the cooking and meal were fun and delicious. We also really enjoyed the other participants in the class
Dear Janet, thank you so much for these kind words! We’re thrilled that you and your daughters had such a memorable experience - getting to share our local culture, food and traditions with visitors is exactly why we do this. It’s wonderful to hear the transportation, hosts and group atmosphere all came together to make it special. Hvala vam puno, and we hope to welcome you back to Dubrovnik again someday!😊
From the pick up and return to Dubrovnik by van, to the harvesting of our herbs and vegetables in the garden, the baking of our bread and the prep of our meal, it was a great experience. The host family was gracious and eager to share their way of life with their guests. A special thank you to our tour operator who went out of her way to help me recover something important I had inadvertently left behind. A wonderful evening!
Dear Laia, thank you so much for this wonderful review, it truly made our day! We’re so glad the full experience came together for you, from the van ride out of Dubrovnik to harvesting in the garden and baking bread with the family. And of course retrieving your belongings was absolutely no trouble at all! That’s what we’re here for. We hope to welcome you back to the Croatian countryside someday. Until then, hvala i sretno!
What an amazing experience! We were lucky enough to have a cooking class all to ourselves, with the lovely Nike. It was so refreshing to walk through the garden where the fruit and vegetables were growing, pick the ingredients that we were using to cook with and learn all about how they run their home and business. The food we cooked at the end tasted great too. Oliver was the friendliest driver and kept us entertained on the way there and back, where we learned even more about the area and its people. It was certainly the most personable experience of our trip. Couldn’t recommend enough- thank you!
Dear Amy, thank you for this wonderful review! Nike will be so happy to read this, she puts so much love into every class, from the garden to the table. And I’ll make sure Oliver sees your kind words too! Having the class all to yourselves with that personal touch is exactly what makes this experience so special. Hope to welcome you back one day!
We truly enjoyed our time with this welcoming family. We each got a chance to make bread and help with some light prep work (chopping veggies) for the meal. I thought the cooking would be more of the focus but great none the less. We helped pick food from the garden, met chickens and went to a neighboring family to get goat milk and cheese. We met their cows and also fed and milked goats. Came back and had an absolutely delicious meal. Amazing experience! Highly recommend!
Dear Caitlin, thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you had such a memorable experience with our host family. From baking bread and harvesting from the garden, to visiting the neighboring farm for fresh goat milk and cheese, we love that you got to experience the full journey from farm to table. We appreciate your feedback about the cooking focus and will keep that in mind as we continue to improve the experience. We hope to welcome you again soon! 🙂
What a fun end great experience. Great cooks and food. Would definitely recommend this experience. Loved it!
Dear Cheryl, thank you so much for the lovely review! We’re so glad you had a fun time and enjoyed the food, there’s something truly special about cooking together in the Dubrovnik countryside and then sitting down to enjoy what you’ve made! We hope the recipes travel home with you and bring a little taste of Croatia to your kitchen. 😊 Hvala and hope to see you again someday!
The traditional cooking class in the Dubrovnik countryside was nothing short of extraordinary. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after the last bite—rich in flavor, history, and genuine human connection. Set on a family‑owned farm tucked into the peaceful hills outside the city, the class offers a slower, more intentional pace that feels like a gift in our busy, hustle‑driven world. Preparing a meal together—using simple, wholesome ingredients and stories shared across the table—felt grounding and deeply meaningful. It was a reminder of how nourishing it can be to slow down and truly connect with others. We learned how traditional Dalmatian dishes come to life using fresh, local ingredients, and the joy of tasting the results of our own work was unforgettable. A visit to a neighboring farm added an extra layer of authenticity, where we sampled fresh goat and cow’s cheese that was absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for something truly special—an experience that feeds both your body and your soul—this is it. I would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone wanting a deeper connection to Dubrovnik’s culture, history, and warm rural hospitality. It’s a rare and beautiful glimpse into a way of life that deserves to be savored.
Dear Tara, thank you for such a beautifully written and thoughtful review of our traditional “Pick.Cook.Eat” cooking class in the countryside. We’re truly grateful you took the time to share your experience. It means a great deal to hear that the cooking class resonated with you on such a deeper level, not just through the food, but through the sense of connection, tradition and slower pace of life in the countryside. This is exactly what we hope to offer our guests: an authentic and meaningful glimpse into local culture and hospitality. We’re especially glad you enjoyed the hands- on cooking, the fresh ingredients and the visit to our neighboring farm- these moments are very close to our hearts. Thank you again for your kind recommendation. We would be delighted to welcome you back for another experience in the future! Kind regards, Marija
This was not only an amazing cooking class and overall culinary experience, but one of the highlights of our many travels around the world. We were picked up at our hotel by Oliver, owner of the tour company who arranged this special event. We traveled to Kameni Dvori for our cooking class. The family has lived for five centuries on this same land, purchasing ownership four generations ago. On their 40 acres, they have vineyards; an orchard with olive trees; peaches, apples, persimmon, oranges, lemons, tangerines, and pomegranate trees; a flock of 30 laying hens; a large vegetable garden and many herbs. They make four kinds of wine, olive oil, pickled veggies, marmalade, liqueurs, prosciutto and sausages. Everything is organic and this 14-person multigenerational household lives together in a stone house that is over 500 years old (yes, with upgrades and additions). All members of the family work this farm and business. When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink of chocolate liqueur (carob bean) and carob date truffles. We picked produce from the garden to use for dinner dishes. We gathered the eggs - white and brown - and fed the hens. Ivo, our host, explained how they make their wines as we sampled white and red wines. Ivo sliced prosciutto for us to sample with two of their homemade cheeses, some sausage, olive tapenade, and olive oil, on homemade bread we made. We also made pasta in a shape that the grandmother has perfected. We also made chicken soup with veggies and semolina dumplings. The salad was fresh from the garden, served as a side with a traditional Croatian chicken stew with pasta. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this tour. This capped off a great stay in Croatia!
Wonderful in every way! The farm is meticulous and beautiful. Nika (and all the family members we met) were wonderful hosts! We enjoyed actually walking through the property and selecting the fruits and vegetables (and eggs from the chickens) we used to cook a fabulous meal. So much fun!
Best experience in Croatia. Extremely personable hosts. fun activities, delicious food! Expensive, but worth it!
Dear Jeffrey_E, thank you for your lovely review! We’re so happy to hear you found the cooking class to be such a highlight of your time in Croatia, and that you enjoyed the hosts, activities, and food. Your kind words mean a lot, and we’d love to welcome you back to Dubrovnik for more experiences soon! All the best, Ana T.
The experience was so fun for me and my husband. The ride to the farm was comfortable and informative with bits of history and personal stories. Upon arrival, Nicola greeted us with goodies and rose wine. The garden is amazing and the food we made together delicious. And the setting is so peaceful. A nice way to get out of the city and into a slower paced village.
