We missed the celebrations honoring ancestors that had passed by a few weeks. This was a great guided tour of a home that celebrates Dia de Los Muertos 365 days a year. If you’re ever in Mexico City or nearby, you have to stop by this place where they teach you the history of the Dia de Los Muertos. Booking was easy and our guide Victor is bilingual and very welcoming. The home is in a gated community and easy to get too via car service. From the front steps you know that they took pride in showcasing the artistinse work. From the murals and the artistinse working and demonstrating their artwork my family was impressed. We will be back again when we visit Mexico city.
It's worth it if you can't visit CDMX in Day of the Dead season. However, if it is the season, it comes out a little. It should also be noted that apart from the home tour, it is also a craft business, so there is a lot of sales.
The Casa is beautifully decorated, showing different aspects of the Day of the Dead traditions. The guide gives an overview of pre-Hispanic and contemporary traditions and you have the opportunity to see the artisans painting beautiful ceramics and to learn a little about their business. A sample of pan de muertos (bread) at the end was a nice touch. The tours are small groups and you have plenty of time to ask questions. Definitely worth a visit and very affordable.
A friend from the United States came to visit Mexico City during the day of the dead and wanted to take her to a special place where she could meet about this celebration. This tour was just what I needed, the house is spectacular with all the art it has, the very precise and interesting information plus you can know the craft workshop. Just a very unique tour and a whole experience. I highly recommend it.
