What a nightmare

It took us 8 hours to reach Budva. For the first two hours bus was collecting passengers and then 6 hours sitting in long traffic jams on top of that few of us had to repeatedly ask to turn the AC on given the extreme heat warning. Tour guide did not do a good job at all. I had to ask about all the basic stuff - when & where would be first stop and asked her to share plan for the day. Nobody knew exactly what they were upto. Wont recommend to anyone!

Poor planning turned a great destination into a frustrating trip

I would think twice before booking this trip. The day started late because people arrived late, and heavy summer traffic made the journey much longer. What was advertised as a 12–13 hour tour ended up being closer to 15–16 hours. This is more of a transportation service than a guided tour. You only spend about 3 hours in Montenegro; the rest is mostly on the bus or at long rest stops. Due to local regulations, the guide cannot actually provide a tour once in Montenegro. The large bus also creates issues with parking. If parking isn’t available, some stops may be skipped and seen on the return (hope there is parking then). A smaller tour vehicle would likely provide a better experience. The bus was stopped by police, resulting in a €2,000 company fine. We waited about 30 minutes for a replacement bus, but the biggest frustration was the lack of communication—there were no updates for about an hour afterward. While the situation was bad, it was completely avoidable and the guide should’ve been giving better updates. The tour guide himself was decent. However, I don’t think the company set him up for success. Poor planning during peak season, no backup driver, and asking for tips after such a poorly managed day felt tacky. I would recommend looking at other operators if you’re expecting a well-organized tour.

Overall, it was a very nice tour. Unfortunately, the journey took much too long, although the organizer is not to blame for that. The road between Albania and Montenegro is very crowded. We had a little more than 2 hours in Montenegro and were able to take a quick look at Sveti Stefan from above on the way back. So not quite as described, but still good. It is recommended. The bus is air-conditioned.

Worth the time and money

Our tour guide Lavdërim was amazing. Infact some of the guests were grumpy and confrontational but he handled the situation like a gentleman!! The personal interest and interaction he showed everyone was priceless. Keep up the good work Lavdërim. We highly recommend the tour and the guide. It was beautiful.
