Itinerary
In the morning, meet your guide and coach at one of the central Dublin pickup locations. Grab a comfortable seat and enjoy the drive out of the city. As we leave the city we will take you along the coast to arrive at Killiney Hill. Here we bring you on a short walk to take in the spectacular views of Dublin Bay, Then cut away form the city and take in rocky coastal scenery as you head into the Wicklow Mountains.
This stop brings you to Avoca Handweavers, Kilmacanogue. Enjoy a coffee and homemade scone or shop for fine handmade goods (own expense).
We leave Avoca and take a route that the big tour coaches can't, through Enniskerry and Glencree and deep into the real Wild Wicklow Mountains and Sally Gap.
Continuing our drive through the Wicklow Mountains National Park and Sally Gap. View the park’s upper slopes, blanketed in heather and bog before stopping at Lough Tay (The Guinness Lake" ) a true wonder and film location for Braveheart, PS I Love You and Vikings TV series.
Afterward, your group will visit a traditional Irish pub for lunch (own expense). Relax, savour Irish home-cooking and sip on a creamy Guinness before heading to the glacial valley of Glendalough. Alternative options available if a pub lunch is not your thing. Ask you guide for info.
Throughout history, visitors have come to ‘the valley of the two lakes’ for its mystical history, archaeology, and unique wildlife. The monastic city of Glendalough, founded in the 6th century by St. Kevin, was once an active locale featuring areas for manuscript writing and copying, an infirmary, guest houses, and a monastery. Now it offers guests a peek into Ireland’s rich cultural history. Enjoy a guided tour of the many sites including the Round Tower, and have some free time to explore on your own. Here you have the option to walk to the Upper lake though ancient forests.
Back on the luxury Coach for a free tot of Glendalough Whiskey. Time to talk and think as you start back on our return journey to Dublin.

What a wonderful tour! Book with confidence and enjoy such a lovely, informative day!
This tour was absolutely worth it! From picturesque routes to some fabulous stops along the way - including Killiney Hill viewing point, Avoca Handweavers shop/cafe, Lake Guinness, and Glendalough - it was a calming and enjoyable visual feast all the way. Kudos to our guide Jim for holding his nerve and using his wit and humour to calmly get us through an unexpected road closure which forced him to take a lesser known (and narrower) route to get to our designated destination. Highly recommend this tour for anyone with a day to spare in Dublin, and having Jim as your local guide would be an added bonus!
Thank you for your lovely review! From the road closure, I realise your tour was a little while ago, so it’s great to know you’re still thinking fondly of the day weeks later. Jim will be delighted that his calm handling, wit and humour helped turn an unexpected detour into part of the adventure. We really appreciate the recommendation!
Great day— Jim was an awesome guide and the stops were spectacular and interesting

Jim was an excellent guide— he shared so many interesting stories and facts and made sure we saw a variety of sites. This really was the perfect day out of the city! Gorgeous scenery, just enough walking around and a great lunch stop!
Thanks a million Angie for the lovely review! Great to hear the scenery, walking and lunch all came together for the perfect escape from the city!
Beautiful experience to discover the mountains and lakes of the Wicklow region. Jim, our guide, was very attentive and considerate at every stage of the trip. The visit to Glendalough deserves a bit more time to enjoy this monastic site and the small hikes to the lake.
Our driver Patrick was a great tour guide. He kept us informed of the stops and the historic significance of each one. We learned a lot about the area along with a little anecdotal commentary. We felt like family on his bus.
Thanks a million for the lovely review! Patrick will be delighted to hear you felt so welcome on board.
We had a lovely time with GW, such a fun and good storyteller.

We had a fantastic time on the Wild Wicklow Tour. The itinerary is incredibly well-paced, balancing scenic coastal drives with incredible stops like Sally Gap, Lough Tay, and the beautiful, historic valley of Glendalough. Our guide Jim, was engaging and knowledgeable. The traditional pub stop was great, and the complimentary shot of local whiskey on the ride back to Dublin was a wonderful touch. A perfect day trip!
Great to hear the pace of the day worked so well for you. Jim will be delighted to know his stories and local knowledge added to the experience. And we're glad the pub stop and little whiskey toast on the way home helped round off the day nicely. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!
Great day trip. Our guide, Jim, was amazing and one of a kind. So informative and entertaining, we had a wonderful time.
Delighted to hear you had such a great day. Jim will be chuffed to know he made the day so memorable.
