Description

I want you to enjoy this tour, so we'll see the most stunning landmarks, and you'll hear some of the darkest, most romantic and wonderful historical stories, for an experience of Cambridge and its world-famous university that you won't forget! We'll walk through the historic City Centre and the Backs, as close as possible to the action. YOU'LL HEAR - how Cambridge University began as a bunch of religious schools more than 800 years ago, because of a bloody riot in Oxford - how it has taught and hosted countless famous people who changed the world - how a religious scholar scribbling at the top of a tiny tower shook the whole of Europe - The despicable reason why our two greatest colleges are bitter rivals YOU'LL SEE: - the FRONT QUAD of a historic college (if open that day) - the RAF bar and the most famous bridge in China (really!) - a small 19th century lab that was once the world's greatest science centre - stunning LANDMARKS - the river Cam and its charming BRIDGES

Great tour and guide

David Carmona clearly enjoys guiding tourists in beautiful Cambridge. He is sympathetic, has a nice walking pace, knows and tells a lot and answers many questions. The stories are a mixture of stories concerning history, politics, culture and he also mixes interesting things for children. He kept telling even after the time that stood for it was really over. Like about Erasmus especially because we came from the Netherlands. We found it very nice and interesting. Super

A very enjoyable couple of hours.

David was a fantastic guide. He is charming, witty, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We have visited Cambridge many times but we gained great insight into the history of the colleges we visited that opened our eyes. David made me want to learn more and the trip has given me the impetus do some of my own research.

Just do it!

Absolutely brilliant, we had a whale of a time and learnt bucketloads of info from David. Lots of humour but with clear and concise facts going back 800 years, this is a must do if visiting Cambridge as you couldn’t gather this information if staying two weeks doing it yourself. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon.

This is the tour of Cambridge

Don't mess about with other tours, this is the one you need to be on. David is absolutely brilliant. He paints a vivid picture of Cambridge through his stories. They're informative and engaging, with just the right touch of cheeky humour. If I could give 10 out of 10, then I'd give him 11.

David was very...

David was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Unfortunately as many graduations were taking place we couldn’t look inside any of the college gates. The small group setting meant it was easy to hear and keep up during the walk.

Unforgettable

Mesmerising architecture, pleasant warm sunshine and after an unforgettable 45 minute punt it is a hard act to follow for our Walking Tour guide David. He is knowledgable, friendly and knows hows how to tell a good story. A brilliant two hours as he answers our questions with a smile
