The Lives and Legends of Lucerne: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

Description
Come on a walking tour to uncover the magic of Lucerne. The town is set against the majestic backdrop of the Alps, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. Several pretty bridges, steeples, fountains and frescoed facades will catch your eye on this walk, but Lucerne has so much more to offer than photo opportunities. You’ll begin at the train station and make a loop around the old town, visiting both sides of the Reuss river. Each site you visit has a story to tell, from the Chapel Bridge’s burning to the carnival celebrations. You’ll pass by wine, grain and pig markets too, each with its own unique character. From the markets, you’ll wander the cobbled streets to the Mill Bridge and find out about the castle on the hill. The tour ends with the Legend of the Wild Man and Lux Ritter, the craftsman who became mayor. By the end of our tour, I hope you firmly agree that Lucerne is a whole lot more than a beautiful photo!

Great overview of the city of Lucerne. We enjoyed walking around and learning about the history. There is parking at the train station which is where the tour starts.
It’s a great way to tour. At your own pace. You can rest when you want to. Directions are very clear. Recommend earphones. We didn’t have those.
Loved the stories about the development of the town. The fountains, bridges and buildings explained in this way helps to understand the past and the present. I was rushed which is not good for me but all the same i enjoyed the walk.
Walking around and listening to the stories behind what we’re seeing was so much better than just walking around and looking. It made walking around Lucerne much more enjoyable.
Great experience, it was very easy to follow the directions, I visited the main landmarks and enjoyed it very much the narrative.
This is a great tour for when you want to walk the city at your own pace and learn some of the history of Lucerne. You download an app that uses your location to guide you through the city. You can start at whatever time you like. As you walk, the audio guide tells you exactly where to go (with specific and easy-to-follow instructions) and when to stop and listen for a moment or take photos. It almost felt as if a guide was actually there with you. You can pause the tour and take as long as you like when you arrive at certain key stops. The tour was long enough to give you a thorough history lesson and see some of the city highlights but not so long as to get weary from walking. Highly recommended, especially if traveling solo or you enjoy walking the city.
