Itinerary
Your guide will greet you at the Lucerne meeting point, before whisking your away to Mt. Pilatus
Our accent to Mount Pilatus will take us aboard the iconic “dragon ride” aerial cable cart, where we will float back to earth suspended in a giant glass cabin. The windowed walls provide 360 views of the Lucerne region, and many compare the experience to flying. Enjoy an ever-changing perspective of the Alpine landscape, as historic Lucerne pulls back into focus as we approach the end of the line. The ride is a highlight of any trip to Mount Pilatus.
At the top, you will have the option to keep soaking up the stunning valley views from the restaurant or enjoy a leisurely hike to the summit of Mt. Pilatus. The top of this famous peak offers a bird’s eye view of historic Lucerne and panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy the clean mountain air from the viewing platform as you gaze out over an expanse of crystal clear lakes, lush green meadows, and rolling peaks and valleys. Learn how Pilatus came to be haunted by legends of dragons and why many believe the body of Pontius Pilate was laid to rest within its foothills.
Going down from Mt. Pilatus, take the cogwheel train where the engine will climb the foothills of Pilatus, taking you to the end of the steepest rack railway in the world. Admire the views over the Alps from 2,073 meters high, as your guide reveals the history, culture, and culinary delights of each area. From mid-May to mid-October, we will take the boat from Alpnachstad to Lucerne. While from November to April, we will do a round cruise on the Lake of Lucerne. As the coghweel only operates during that time due to weather conditions.
Experience the Lake of Lucerne, also known as the lake of four cantons, and admire the Bürgenstock, Rigi Mountain, and Pilatus Mountain from afar cruising along the crystal clear lake.
After a full day of adventure, your guide will accompany back to the meeting point.

Our guide Carlos was great! He was super friendly and knowledgeable. It felt more like a friend was guiding us around Mt. Pilatus instead of a guide. He knew all of the great picture stops along the way and provided us with amazing stories of the mountain and the cog wheel train. Definitely do this tour and ask for Carlos!
This was a great tour to see lots of beautiful things. Our tour guide Lincoln was funny and informative and had the transportation transfers timed perfectly. Would highly recommend.
Mt Pilatus was crowded on a sunny Saturday but stunning and a must see imho. Our guide, Lincoln gave just the right balance of very interesting information about Lucerne and Switzerland that wasn’t redundant to another walking tour we did in the city. We happened to book on a beautiful, clear 82 degree day. It’s all essentially public transportation, but having the experienced guide to expertly navigate and educate was fantastic. We were joined by 2 other couples so a great group size. We all packed warmer clothes which was not needed AT ALL! But that is July in the Alps and you just never know. Bring a bottle of water and a little sunscreen and maybe a light jacket you can tie around your waist if the forecast is good. Btw…the app gave us an address (1 zentralstrasse) which we assumed was on the sidewalk outside the train station (same with one other couple), but the third couple saw something that said go inside the station and meet at track (aisle?) 7. Lincoln found us about 5 mins after meeting time and I think I missed a call from them prior to him finding us. He had a sign so it’s not hard to find him if you get the correct info!
Make sure to wear walking shoes! Bring a light jacket as the top of the mountain can be chilly in the breeze. The boat cruise was lovely and had great views of the mountains and the houses on the lake. The views from the mountain of the lake and other Swiss alps were beautiful! Salma was a great guide and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable!
Had a great time on this today and Carlos was an excellent guide. All 3 forms of transportation were cool in their own way - boat ride from Luzern which was nice despite the morning rain, train up the mountain which was incredible, and gondolas back down provided some scenic views. Would highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience with Carlos as our guide! He was knowledgeable and everything was well coordinated. We got plenty of time at the top to do/see all we wanted and instructions were clear on when and where to meet up so nobody was left behind.
Carlos was a great guide. The views and hospitality were amazing!
Carlos was amazing always attentive
Carlos was great! Had awesome recommendations and was great with my family.
Lincoln was excellent!! Very informative with his information. A couple of things to note, you take a public ferry for the first 90 minutes and you end the tour taking a public bus. Not a big deal as the tour is great but the description isn’t always written this way.
