Took the 2 hour tour with Dr. James. He was fantastic! Especially with a 12 year old. Told stories about the artisits and gave historical context so that as art novices we saw the pieces in a totally different way than if we had just visted the museum on our own.
Claudia from Tate Modern took us on the Discovery Tour today (Friday 5 June) - she was absolutely outstanding. Enthusiastic, entertaining and hugely well informed about all the exhibits that we were taken too (as well as those we passed by). Kept us all involved and engaged and it was a TOP tour. Thanks Claudia - gave us such a unique insight to many of the pieces - and a bit of global friendship and kindness thrown in!
A marvelous tour. Highly recommended. Out guide worked very hard to explain the Architecture of the Tate Moderrn. He then went on to show us rooms and installations that we would never have found on our own. Since this was modern and contemporary art , our guide used excellent imagery and descriptive words to help us understand Rothko, Giacometti, Richard Long and many others. He also gave us the context of each work of art.. Wonderful tour!
Visiting the Tate Modern was an incredible experience. The museum is beautifully organized, making it easy to navigate and fully enjoy the vast collection of contemporary and modern art. The variety and quality of the exhibitions are truly impressive, offering something to captivate every visitor. The atmosphere inside is vibrant and inspiring, creating the perfect setting to reflect, explore, and engage with art. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or just curious about contemporary culture, Tate Modern is a must-visit destination in London — both for its remarkable collections and the unique, creative energy it exudes.
In London the museum is free. A particular architecture. Amazing museum of modern art on the banks of the sieve. Extraordinary views of London. A must-visit of the permanent or temporary collections.
Our tour guide was fabulous! So very knowledgeable with a sense of humor and perfectly suited to this role. Could not be more pleased. Many Thanks.
This is my favorite museum in London. I love the building the permanent exhibition. Great visit for adults and kids of all ages.
ALWAYS a must-visit place when I'm in London. Their interesting and eclectic mix of art and artists is superior, and their installation art projects that fill the entry hall of this huge complex are usually incredible. Worth a visit!
It’s a very brief overview, but easy to go back and revisit our favorite paintings. Guide was very good, nice to have 11 in the group
If you're into modern art you could easily spend a few hours here. I enjoyed portions of the exhibitions and appreciated that most of what the staff recommend to see is free. The route the front desk told us to take from the Turbine Hall started in the Natalie Bell Building to see floors 2, 3, 4, cross the bridge to the Blavatnik Building and then work our way down to The Tanks in the basement. Each floor has a guide to show you where the collection highlights are and when we visited there were some special featured artworks for the 25th anniversary of Tate Modern. The gift shops here are extensive and my wife picked up a few post cards to add to her collection. There are lots of souvenirs, books and prints available as well. There are a few restaurants, cafes and bars inside Tate Modern. The facilities are well maintained and you can get some pretty good views of the Thames and London city skyline from the Tate Modern. We spent two hours in the museum and felt that was more than enough time for us but we missed all the paid exhibitions. This art museum was close to our hotel and we enjoyed the area because it was pretty quiet. The Blackfriars station is located nearby and has some pretty frequent transit options and the Windsor station isn't too far away either. After our visit to Tate Modern we had a delicious lunch at the Borough Market.
