The heart of Finnish cuisine lies in purity: wild berries, mushrooms, game from deep forests, fish from clear lakes and the sea, creamy dairy products, and hearty bread made from rye and oats. Join your local guide for a tasty walk through the soul of Helsinki. As you sample delicious local flavours, you’ll also hear fascinating stories about the city’s past and present. On this tour, you’ll experience not only food but also Helsinki’s unique architecture, design, and culture – plus, you’ll get insider tips on where to shop and explore further! Admiring the railway station, a great example of our Art nouveau by Eliel Saarinen, from outside and inside. Close to the station 2 additional important buildings, the national theatre and national gallery.
In this area there are many very interesting sights to see, like the Parliament, the museum of contemporary arts, the new music hall, the Finlandia hall and Oodi, our new central library that has in 2019 won the price as best library of the world.
If time permits, a visit inside of one of the greatest central libraries of the world! Food tasting!
Here we will have one of our stops. The stop will be made in a 19th century Villa.
Here, in this former working-class neighbourhood, we will enjoy the local life.
Ending the tour here + fish plate and dessert + coffee.

I have had guides from all over the world and Maddalena is among the very best. We thought we booked a food tour of Helsinki, which we got, but equally as important and impressive was the tour of the city, told through the eyes of a local with the passion and pride of a longtime resident. The food was well paced and thoughtfully modified for two of us who are pescatarians. Each dish was specifically selected to expose us to Finnish culture and the varied geography of the country. We also learned a lot about the city, its history, and its iconic buildings and architecture. Educational, fun, and very interesting. Highly recommend.
This was a great way to explore Helsinki and taste authentic foods from the region. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful tour with Magdalena. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Finland and Helsinki and took us to some wonderful spots to taste traditional Finnish food. She was great with our teenagers and even spent extra time with us at the end and gave us tips for the rest of our visit. Definitely try out her tour- it was amazing

We had a great time with Maddalena on our food tour through Helsinki. The tour included tastings of many game meats, fruits, berries and of course fish! We walked to many of the main sites as well as some off the tourist path. Maddalena is incredibly knowledgeable and personable making the tour a wonderful way to start our trip in Helsinki!

We visited the waterfront food market in Helsinki in May 2024, as part of an Insight Vacations 'Northern Capitals' tour. Great venue! We tasted smoked reindeer - pleasant! I returned to have some lunch at a cafe inside - excellent!

Maddelena is an awesome guide! She shared information about the food, daily life, and local history. All of the shops/vendors seem to genuinely enjoy the interaction. Because these tours are private, they are efficient and there is a lot of customization that can be done. I found Maddelena more responsive via email in planning this tour than others I’ve been on in other cities. I highly recommend this tour early in your trip so she can help you book other meals during your stay! Our group of 4 really enjoyed it.

My wife and I had a wonderful time being guided by Maddalena to some of Kallio's hidden corners, enjoying superb food and drink in locations known to the locals.
