This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. You do literally go backstage and see how the place works from installing scenery to how the orchestras work. To stand on all 3 stages is something you don’t do everyday!! Well worth doing if you’re in Sydney and have even a small amount of interest in music and performing arts. Our host was Nicholas and he was brilliant- lots of facts and stories, a very engaging guide.

Fantastic insights and just really fascinating if younlike the arts! Alan, our guide, was simply amazing! Highly recommend!
The guide (Mr. Markos) was very kind and polite. The explanation of the facilities behind the stage was also detailed and attentive. For my part, though, I have no interest in opera or classical orchestras at all, and I wish they would have explained the facilities and history more firmly.
Dear ManabuA11, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience of the Backstage Guided Tour of the Sydney Opera House, we'll pass on your kind words to Marcos. It sounds like perhaps you should have taken the Architecture tour (that runs on Saturdays and Sundays) that delves into the history and the engineering feat that is the marvel of the Sydney Opera House. We look forward to welcoming you back next time - rest assured throughout the year we put on 1800 performances of all different genres from the ones you mentioned to comedy, contemporary music, dance and theatre! Kind regards, Team SOH
It was the best, we got to go into places such as backstage in the Joan Sutherland theatre and the concert hall, the orchestra pit, the biggest lift in the southern hemisphere. We also checked out the dressing rooms, the rehearsal areas and the green room. Freida was the most AMAZING tour guide with her information, stories and friendly personality which made the tour experience a great one. The breakfast was pretty good. a great tour.

We went on the Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided tour with Breakfast. My husband was on the fence about touring the Opera House but we were so glad we did because it was amazing. Alan was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We saw room reserved for staff and performers and all of the performing halls. We learned a lot of the inside scoop on behind the scenes information and the history of the Opera House. Breakfast was included at the end of the tour in the Green Room. Very nice end to an amazing tour. We enjoyed it and would definitely recommend this tour.
Brilliant tour. You see a different aspect of the Opera House and all the work that goes on behind the scene to make the audience experience amazing
Fantastic backstage experience. We learned so much and saw so much. Alan was fantastic. Highly recommend to everyone visiting. Only issue was finding the meeting point, it's down the escalators and around it to the Stage Door area. It was hard for us to find at first!
The tour is aptly titled, Back stage. We were able to see two stages, one opera, one play stage. We did not go in to the larger venues. We saw costumes from Romeo & Juliet, and a dinosaur from a stage play. Bruce was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Breakfast was served to us and was delicious! Bruce gave us tips on where to take great pictures. After our tour, we walked away from the opera house and enjoyed the Botanical gardens .
Steve, our guide, was very informative & friendly. We enjoyed the tour.
