Great trip, our guide was lovely, so friendly and knowledgeable about the volcano, its history and ecology. The views were amazing and we took some amazing photos.
This tour on Etna is an unmissable experience... the professionalism and friendliness of a guide like Lorenzo made it fantastic. We got to know this mountain in all its forms and understood why it is respected and loved by Sicilians. The tasting at Rifugio Sapienza is unmissable. Doing it at sunset is a unique emotion... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Our family of four booked this excursion to add variety to our typical city, historical and food based tours and we were not disappointed! Christian was a knowledgeable tour guide, he communicated well on the day of and the main company communicated well during the booking process. We did start off at the volcano caves which wasn't as interesting as we expected and probably could have skipped it altogether. If we had each been given flashlights it might have been more enjoyable, we were standing in the dark for good bit and other tours coming in and out made it hard to hear/follow what our guide was telling us. The tour starts at a shop/restaurant at the base of the hiking trail and the tasting included some wine, honey and liquors but no real snacks...so make sure you eat before the hike or grab some snacks at the restaurant before the tasting. Christian kept a pretty quick pace on the hike and did his best to keep the group (8) together. We have been on many hikes previously but this one was different because the ground is fairly unstable, more like gravel than solid ground. This gave us all a good challenge but could be harder than expected for anyone with mobility issues. The tour company did provide hiking shoes (need to be requested in advance) which was very helpful. The shoe sizes weren't exactly what we had pre-ordered, but they were manageable enough. Overall this was a highlight of our vacation, unexpected, challenging and very rewarding. Definitely bring water and a heavier jacket or hoodie, it was quite chilly and very windy the higher up we climbed.
Lorenzo was a fantastic tour guide! He was very knowledgable and helped/accomadated everyones needs on the trip. He had great rapport and kept the whole group laughing the whole trip. This is a must do when visiting Taormina - We got great pictures (taken by Lorenzo!) and it was amazing to see Mt Etna when she was slightly active. We stopped to go in the caves and lava tubes, tasted wine and local produce, and hiked to the top of a dormant volcano crater.
Lorenzo was absolutely fantastic and this tour was one of our favorite tours! Our experience going into the caves, stopping at local shops for tastings and the hike of Mount Etna were magical and unforgettable! As a family of 5 with 3 adult children, we all enjoyed this so so much! Highly recommend the tour and especially with Lorenzo.
We went to Mount Etna with my friends, and it was a magical experience. Daria picked us up from our accommodation, and that’s how the tour began. She explained everything to us about the mountain and the surrounding areas. She told us all about the volcano’s craters and answered all of our questions. She was friendly, kind, and took many beautiful photos of us. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and I definitely recommend doing it with Daria.
Tour went very far upount Etna, views were breathtaking and a truly one of most spectacular views of all the tours we have taken. Highly recommend both the guide and the tour!
Loved both the guide and tour. Mount Etna is truly breathtaking!
Our guide was friendly, engaged, and explained many things well – definitely a good rating for that. However, we were disappointed with the tour itself. It was basically the same route as the morning tour: Honey museum and a short stop at a cave. After that, we only went up to about 2000 meters, where we could then hike alone – however, the tour ended already around 7:20 PM, well before sunset. We understood the description to mean that the tour leads to areas that one is not allowed to reach alone. Overall, we expected something different.
Itala worked really hard to ensure we had the best possible experience. It was obvious she really loves Mt Etna
