Plenty of time to visit the extensive information centre and wonderful displays. There is also a café for refreshments. Please make sure you have a debit or credit card on the day of the tour to pay for your Stonehenge ticket.
Walk freely amongst these magnificent stones. Soak up the atmosphere and the magical charm of this ancient site. Try your hand at dowsing. Time to wander around this pretty village with its 17th century thatched pub.
Photo stop. This is the largest human made object in prehistoric Europe. It was built 4800 years ago and took longer to build than Stonehenge. Its purpose is still one of the great unsolved mysteries.
Photo Stop. Cherhill white horse is nearly 300 years old. This beautiful white horse is one of 13 in Wiltshire. Carved out of the chalk hills they appear dramatic against the rich green landscape. These are best viewed and most photogenic when seen from a distance.
Lacock National Trust village is our location for lunch. This is an unspoilt National Trust village that appears as if trapped in time. There has been no major construction here for the last 200 years. Featuring in many films and period dramas including; Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, Larkrise to Candleford and Downton Abbey to name a few. There is also an Abbey, one of the few remaining Tudor Monasteries which became home to William Fox Talbot, a major pioneer in photography. Entrance is not included in the tour price and visiting is optional. The Abbey is open from Spring to Autumn and more details are available on the National Trust website.
An idyllic Cotswold village nestling in a wooded valley.Voted the prettiest village in England. This has been a movie and historical drama film location for; Stardust, Warhorse & Poirot as well as the original Dr Dolittle. Time to wander around the cobbled streets and take in the view from the medieval market cross. Relax by the stream in front of the picture postcard weaver’s cottages. Discover the medieval clock in St Andrews church and the 13th Century tomb of Sir Walter de Dunstanville.

The tour of Cotswold went lovely however when we got to Stonehenge, we were not warned that this was an extremely unsafe place and my husband was robbed. Within 30 minutes of his wallet being taken thousands of dollars was charged to our accounts. I spoke with a Travel attorney who told me that this was a frequent occurrence and we should’ve been warned that Stonehenge was a very unsafe place and to watch out— we were not given any warning. I am putting this information here because there is no way to reach anyone at Viator to make a formal complaint and request a refund; however, after having this experience, we would never ever go to Stonehenge or recommend anyone else going.
Great tour. We had an amazing time. Tour guide Andy was friendly and knowledgeable and funny and created an atmosphere of enjoyment for everyone on the tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Gerry was amazing. The tour was informative, interesting and the right pace for all ages! I will book again!
Love the tour! Our guide, Bill, was excellent, he provided us with great information as we drove a long to our stops! It was a great day!
Where to begin? This was my favorite tour in England, and I've been here many times in about 30 years. Our tour guide, Bill, was knowledgeable, funny, an amazing driver, kind, and just an all-around pleasure. Each stop on our way from Bath to Stonehenge, through the Cotswolds, was like something from a storybook, even in a heavy drizzle. There were so many unexpected and beautiful sites on the road and in each town, and Bill did a great job pointing them out. Stonehenge was awe-inspiring. 5,000+ years of history. There's no way we would have seen and experienced all these places on our own! Roads are very tricky and Bill made it look easy. Highly recommended!
My family and I had a wonderful experience with Mad Max Tours. Our tour guide, Andy, was absolutely fantastic! He was funny, entertaining, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. He did an amazing job bringing the history and stories behind each location to life. Andy made sure we saw everything included on the tour and even surprised us with a few extra stops and details that made the experience even more special. The tour was well organized, comfortable, and enjoyable from start to finish. I was traveling with a protective walking boot, and I was worried it might limit what I could experience, but Andy’s care and the pace of the tour allowed me to enjoy every part of the day without feeling left out. This was a perfect mix of history, beautiful sights, and great storytelling. I highly recommend Mad Max Tours, and if you’re lucky enough to get Andy as your guide, you’re in for a memorable experience!
What a great day! Despite the rain, our guide, Bill, made the sightseeing fun and light. He was very knowledgeable about the gorgeous Cotswold area. Thank you!
I had to cancel two tours with Mad Max Tours — the Cotswolds tour and the Cotswolds and Stonehenge tour — due to a serious medical issue that forced me to cancel my entire planned trip to the UK. John handled my cancellation with remarkable efficiency and kindness, processing refunds for both bookings promptly and without any complications, along with genuine warm wishes for my recovery. Both tours were something I was enormously looking forward to, and the gracious way in which my cancellation was handled has only made me more eager to join Mad Max Tours when I am able to return to the UK. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
We had Sean for our driver and he was amazing. He was as so knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. It was such a great day. The 2 villages we went to were beautiful and lots of history. We then went to Avebury Henge and Stonehenge. I’d highly recommend this tour and if you get Sean a huge Bonus.
Our tour leader, Kevin, was excellent. We had ample time in each of two Cotswolds villages: Castle Combe and Lacock and at Stonehenge. Kevin provided good historical background for each village and added interesting current information such as filming locations for Harry Potter, Poldark and other shows. Stonehenge audio guide which was provided on trip app was excellent. Kevin was knowledgeable, helpful and very personable. I would definitely take another tour with him.
