Private tour of Vienna’s churches begins in Sigmund Freud Park, right in front of Votivkirche. Your Expert Guide will tell you interesting facts about this 19th-century neo-Gothic church, then lead you on a walking tour through Vienna’s Historic Center.
You will pass Schottenkirche (the basilica of “Our Lady of the Scots”) and head to Minoritenkirche. It is one of the oldest and most artistically valuable churches in Vienna. Inside, you will discover a hidden gem of Italian Renaissance - a mosaic version of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper.
The tour will pass the imperial palace complex of Hofburg, offering a chance to learn about the spiritual life of the House of Habsburgs.
You will also see the Column of Pest (the Holy Trinity Column), built in the late 17th-century to commemorate victims of the plague. Nearby is the Church of St. Peter (Peterskirche). From outside it looks inconspicuous, but the interior of this Baroque church will amaze you with beautiful frescoes, paintings, and a domed roof with lots of gilding.
The true highlight of this tour lies ahead - a visit to St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Austria's most prominent national symbol. Entrance tickets are included, so you can admire the Cathedral’s unique roof with colorful tiles and towers, which are the highest point of the Old Town skyline, and its tranquil interior filled with sacred art and stunning altars.
Visit the magnificent St. Charles Church (Karlskirche)! It is one of the city's greatest buildings, featuring beautiful frescoes, splendor and incredible colors in 1250 square meters cupola. - Tickets to Votivkirche cost 5 euro per person, payable on the site. The church can be visited Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, Sundays from 9 am to 1 pm.

Dave set up the order of the churches in this tour to ensure we built on the knowledge at each stop and further emphasizes what we learned at prior stops. He has detailed knowledge each site and could tie that into local history. All of the churches and cathedrals we visited as gems in their own way, but the visit to the beautiful Karl’s church, which includes a view of Vienna from the roof,was a fitting cap to a wonderful tour.
