The stone walls are adorned with memorials, plaques, and tombs. Exterior of Dublin Castle is not just a castle—it’s a storybook of Ireland’s complex and layered past. Built in the early 13th century on the site of a Viking settlement, it originally served as a defensive fortification. Over the centuries, it transformed into the seat of English, and later British, rule in Ireland for over 900 years. The castle was the heart of British administration in Ireland until 1922, when it was handed over to the new Irish Free State following the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. Today, it functions as a government complex, a venue for state functions, and a major tourist attraction.

The Book of Kells is one of Ireland’s greatest cultural treasures—a stunning illuminated manuscript created by Celtic monks around 800 AD. Housed in the Long Room of Trinity College Dublin, this masterpiece contains the four Gospels in Latin, richly decorated with intricate artwork, gold leaf, and vivid colors. Every page is a marvel of craftsmanship, blending Christian iconography with traditional Irish motifs like spirals, animals, and knots. The Book of Kells was likely made on the island of Iona and later moved to Kells for safekeeping. Today, visitors can view two open pages, rotated regularly, along with a fascinating exhibition on how it was made. After seeing the book, don’t miss the breathtaking Long Room, lined with ancient books and marble busts—it’s one of the most photographed places in Dublin. Whether you're into history, art, or religion, the Book of Kells is a must-see experience that offers a glimpse into the soul of medieval Ireland.

Overpriced and disappointed

The Book of Kells and St Patrick's Cathedral were nice to see, but the tour guide spoke so softly I couldn't hear what he said even when I was standing right beside him. He should have people wear headsets. What I did hear was that he consistently called me by the wrong name although I corrected him. Dublin Castle was closed due to dignitaries having a meeting, so we didn't even get to see much of it from the outside. I was disappointed and I felt the tour was way overpriced for as little as I got out of it.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating it is when it's difficult to hear the guide . We do offer audio headsets to help guests hear the guide clearly throughout the tour, the guide carries audio sets with them for such cases, we ask to make it clear you require them. Dublin Castle, unfortunately, occasional government events and official functions can result in unexpected rare closures that are outside of our control. While we always do our best to adjust the itinerary when this happens, we understand your disappointment at not being able to experience this part of the tour as planned. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve both our communication and the overall guest experience. We hope you'll consider giving us another opportunity to provide the high-quality tour we strive to deliver.

The walking tour took in...

The walking tour took in a lot of sites not included in itinerary. Tour guide Seamus, was brilliant, funny, and very educational. We had a small group, so Seamus was able to be heard easily and answered all queries. Wonderful tour.

Excellent choice!

We had a great experience with Seamus. He took us through Trinity College, St. Patrick’s, and the Palace. Even though we couldn’t go in (EU was being hosted there), he gave us great history and took us on some other little side ventures. We also lucked out on great weather!

Operator response

We're so pleased you enjoyed exploring Dublin with Seamus. While it was unfortunate that Dublin Castle was closed due to the EU event, it's great to hear he was able to turn it into an opportunity to discover some fascinating alternative sights and stories around the city. That's one of the benefits of having a passionate local guide! And of course, a day of sunshine in Dublin is always an added bonus. ☀️ We really appreciate your kind words and hope to see you again on another tour in the future! ⭐️☘️

Quick way to see a lot!

Great way to get into all the popular locations with tickets already booked. Only problem was it moved to fast and you really didn’t have time to just enjoy each part. We also couldn’t hear our guide when he was speaking unless we were right by him which was difficult to do in a group. Ear phones would have been helpful.

Operator response

Thank you for your review. We're delighted you enjoyed having all the major attractions arranged in advance—it really does help guests make the most of their day. We also appreciate your honest feedback. Our tours do cover a lot, so while we try to balance time at each location with seeing as much as possible, we understand that some guests would prefer a little longer to explore at their own pace. We appreciate your suggestion about using audio headsets we do offer them ofcourse-all you got to do is ask, the guide carries audio whisper ear sets to improve the experience. Thank you again for travelling with us, and we hope to welcome you back on another tour in the future.

Very knowledgable guide...

Very knowledgable guide who expertly accommodated everyone’s pace. He answered all of our questions with interesting details. Visiting the same places without his narration would not have been as rich of an experience.

Operator response

That last line says it all — thank you so much! That's exactly what a great guide does. The sights are wonderful but it's the stories, the context and the little details that turn a walk around a city into something you actually remember. So glad the pace worked for everyone and that all your questions got the answers they deserved. Hope to see you back in Dublin again someday! 🙏
