St Andrews & the Fishing Villages of Fife Small-Group Day Tour from Edinburgh

Itinerary

10 min

Say goodbye to Edinburgh as we head towards one of Scotland's most iconic viewpoints: the Forth Bridges Viewpoint. Opened in 1890, 1964, and 2017, these three bridges -despite their differences - oddly complement each other.

30 min

Stop in the traditional fishing village of Anstruther (known as 'Ainster' locally), where you can check out the old cobbled streets and take a walk along the seafront to the harbour.

180 min

Free time in St. Andrews to visit the sites that interest you most. St. Andrews Cathedral - This ruined cathedral was once one of Scotland’s most magnificent buildings. St Andrews Old Town - Immerse yourself in 1,000 years of history as you explore the winding streets and ancient castle. The Old Course - Golf was so popular in Scotland, it was banned in the 15th century. And nowhere was it more popular than in St Andrews, ‘the Home of Golf’.

Admission not included60 min

After St Andrews, we take a pleasant drive through the rolling countryside of central Fife to Falkland. Falkland Palace dominates this old village, and was one of the main residences of the old Royal family of Scotland, the Stewarts (Stuarts). Aside from the palace the village is simply one of the most beautiful in Scotland with an array of old cottages and narrow winding streets. Passengers here have free time to wander around the village of Falkland or visit the palace. * Please note the palace is closed over winter season (Nov - Feb)

Highly recommend this tour to St Andrews

It was a great day. Of course, it was made even better by the amazing weather. The amount of time that in St. Andrews was perfect for lunch, shopping, and strolling on the beach.

Excellent day trip to St. Andrews

We had an excellent trip to St. Andrews. Our guide David was very knowledgeable with just the right amount of humor. The time in each locations was sufficient and trip was well planned.

The guide basically...

The guide basically transported us to St Andres and dropped us off. We also stopped at a small quaint town on the way back to Edinburgh. Again dropped off. We might as well have found transportation without a guide. I think the bus would have cost less and accomplished the same thing.

Great introduction to Fife!

This was a fantastic way to see multiple cities around Edinburgh in one day. The trade-off of course is that you do not get to stay in any one spot for very long. I would recommend this for any first-time visitors to the area just to get a feel for what’s outside the city, and then plan to return to your favorite spots to give them the attention they deserve. Our guide, Wendy, was knowledgeable and friendly and kept the group engaged and laughing. I would go on another tour with her any day!
