Excellent Tour. We had Ronald as a tour guide. He was extremely funny, knowledgeable, and professional. I was surprised at the things I learned, much of it was unexpected. For example, we saw the exact location where Billie Holiday sang and was discovered. We saw our Scott Joplin lived and passed by the hotel where Fidel Castro stayed. It was really great. Worth the time and expense.
We had a tour with Ronald, who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and funny. I was expecting a straightforward tour, but I was surprised by all of the unexpected and amazing things I learned. My favorite was visiting the location where Billie Holiday was “ discovered.” Highly recommend.
You must really want to learn. The tour guide is extremely smart, engaging and passionate about the neighborhood in which she lives

Ronald was our tour guide, and he brought a lot of energy and humor to the experience. He was engaging and clearly passionate about the subject matter, which made the tour enjoyable. The tour focused primarily on the notable Black individuals who lived in Harlem rather than the history of Harlem itself or how the neighborhood became such an important center of Black American history during the Harlem Renaissance and beyond. We walked through different parts of Harlem as Ronald pointed out the homes and stories of various prominent Black figures. He also discussed some people who never actually lived in Harlem, which occasionally made the theme of the tour feel less focused. One drawback was that Ronald frequently went off on tangents that weren’t directly related to the tour or Harlem. For example, there was an extended discussion about Marcus Garvey that didn’t really tie back to Harlem or the locations we were visiting. While the information was interesting, these detours sometimes disrupted the flow of the tour and took time away from learning more about the neighborhood itself. Overall, Ronald was an entertaining and enthusiastic guide, but I would have appreciated a stronger focus on Harlem’s history and significance, with fewer off-topic diversions.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We're glad to hear that Ronald's energy, humor, and passion made the experience enjoyable, and we'll be sure to share your kind words with him. Our Soul of Harlem tour is specifically designed to explore Harlem's significance in African-American history and culture, including the Harlem Renaissance, the Civil Rights Movement, music, the arts, and the influential Black figures who helped shape the neighborhood and its legacy. We understand that guests may have different expectations about which aspects of Harlem's history they would most like to explore, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. Thank you again for choosing Tours by Foot and for taking the time to share your feedback.
