Itinerary
The souks of Marrakech are lively markets brimming with vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and a wide array of local crafts and goods. Dive into the bustling atmosphere, explore unique textiles, spices, and artisanal treasures, and enjoy a truly immersive shopping experience.
Argan Oil & Prickly Pear Oil: Morocco's "liquid gold," Argan oil, and the rarer Prickly Pear Seed Oil (known for its anti-aging properties) are readily available. These are typically cold-pressed and sold for both cosmetic (skin/hair) and culinary use. It is best to purchase them from reputable vendors, often women's cooperatives, to ensure purity. Stalls often double as traditional apothecaries, selling herbs, natural remedies, dried flowers, and traditional beauty products like kohl eyeliner, and even items with folkloric medicinal uses.
The production of leather goods and slippers in Marrakech is a central part of its artisan tradition, concentrated in specialized sections of the souk. The traditional Moroccan leather slippers are the most famous footwear. The main area for these is Souk Smata (the Slipper Souk). Artisans, or Mâalem, hand-stitch these distinctive, often pointed-toe, soft leather slippers, which are displayed in a dazzling array of colors and are available in both simple and elaborately embroidered designs
The dyer section of the Marrakech souk is known as Souk des Teinturiers (or Souk Sebbaghine). It is one of the most vibrant and photogenic parts of the labyrinthine markets. Activity: It is where artisans continue the centuries-old tradition of dyeing wool, silk, and leather, often using natural pigments like indigo, saffron, and henna.
Les Nomades de Marrakech is a highly regarded, multi-generational family-run rug store in the souk, celebrated for offering an extensive collection of authentic Moroccan carpets. The store is often described as a "treasure cave" and offers a relaxed shopping environment, often including complimentary Moroccan tea. They provide services like custom rug design and, crucially for international buyers, expert packaging and often arrange shipping directly to your home.

We recently returned from a trip to Marrakech and took this tour. Before I left, I read about the enormous size of the souk and that it was very easy to get lost in the labyrinth of streets. I was also leary of being harangued by hustlers or getting bad goods, so thought a good introduction to the souk and shops would help. I am so glad we took this tour! It was a great introduction and gave us an idea of the layout. The shops and craftsmen we visited had top quality products and I felt good with the purchases we made. We even returned to one of the shops the next day to get a few more items. I am sure there were shops that had cheaper products, but the adage "You get what you pay for" certainly applies here! Mohamed our guide did a great job and was very helpful.
Hi lunettes, "It was a pleasure guiding you! I’m so glad you appreciated the quality of the craftsmen we visited. In Marrakech, we take great pride in our traditional arts, and I always aim to show my guests the 'real' work that lasts a lifetime. Thank you for recognizing that value! I hope your purchases bring back fond memories of Morocco for years to come. – Mohamed"
Our tour of the Marrakech souk with our guide Mohamed was absolutely wonderful! He was fun, very friendly, and full of stories and interesting information. He took us to beautiful and unique places that we would have never found on our own. If you’re looking for a beautiful carpet, a special lamp, or the best fresh spices and essential oils, Mohamed will take you to exactly the right spot. We truly recommend this experience!

Looking forward to welcoming you back soon! Kind regards, Mohamed
Ismail was a top guide 10:10. Smiley, helpful and informative. Couldn’t have asked for more. He even took lots of pictures for us on the way round!

Very nice and relaxed German-speaking tour, where you learned a lot about culture and local life.
Great tour! Learned a lot about Moroccon culture! Went to all the historical culture sights in Marrakesh
Hello dear friend, Thank you for sharing your for sharing your experience regarding the Medina. I will be glad to meet you next time. Kind regards, Mohammed
Great tiur guide in ousamah. He showed us everything we wanted to see. Made extra sure we could get our bearings and did not cut us short on time at all. Thoroughlt recommended
Hello dear friend, Thank you for sharing your for sharing your experience regarding the Medina and shopping in the souks. I will be happy to meet you next time. Kind regards, Mohammed
Mohammed was very knowledgeable about the city but we would have liked more about about the history, people and culture. There were 10 people on the trip which was too many especially going into some of the small shops in the souks. We were weary of shopping by the end of the trip and there was no water supplied as had been advertised.
Hello, Thank you very much for sharing your experience. This is an experience that offers a great insight about a local culture, people and History including Medina and Souks. At least TWO STOPS in the Souks are included to have a break and have a Moroccan tea drink, and a group of 10 people some are interested to explore the Souks. You could have asked for water because we offer drinks and tastings. Anyway, thank you ! maybe next time. Kind regards, Marrakech guide tours
The tour is promoted as a private tour but it isn’t; apparently that means “small group tour “ .It was 2.5 hours and not 3 .The tour is primarily around the souks which was overwhelming and I thought there would be more regarding the culture. If the guide had been amazing the above would not have been an issue but he was so indifferent and was on the phone for at least half of the time .The other two tours we went on had fantastic tour guides so overall sooo disappointing
Hello, I am very sorry that you felt this tour was not to your liking. It is a private tour as there is only a small group which is noted when you book you're option before paying. If you would like a private one to one tour, we do offer this in other packages available. We pride ourselves in showing everyone parts of Marrakech that would otherwise go unseen and experience the culture surrounding us. In addition to this, the guide explained why he was talking on the phone due to a family urgency which one can understand, however, you claimed the opposite. Anyway, Thank you for your review. Kind regards, Marrakech guide tours
Mohammad was very informative and friendly and knew his way around the souk very well and would recommend this tour if you want to see the soul from the inside but to many shop stops for me
Hello, Thank you so much for your feedback. The tour you booked include visit to the hidden sections of the Medina and the souks which is fair enough for everybody booking the tour. Two stops of the market is included in the description of the tour. Thank you very much. Kind regards, Mohammed
